PURPOSE: This position manages SEIU's executive officer's digital communications operations to promote the union's narrative and organizing work, to further campaign objectives, and to expand SEIU's online audiences and presence. The position reports to the Assistant Director, Digital Dept. This position will work primarily on executive communications.

* Devises executive digital strategy and goals as part of the union's overall digital communications strategy.
* Manages implementation of executive social media efforts.
* Manages development of digital strategies for SEIU executive officers to ensure that they advance both individual project goals and the union's overarching goals and strategic direction.
* Creates and oversees the creation of digital content, including videos.
* Staffs officers at high-level engagements.
* Serves as a key contact for digital communications with allies, partners, and vendors
* Assists with vendor management and oversight for the department.
* Manages the work of digital team staff, directly supervising individuals on the team as assigned.
* Plays a leadership role in the Digital Department, advancing an anti-racist organization agenda, and jumping in to cover campaign and other work as needed.
* Directly responsible for retention of staff, including training, feedback, reviews, skill and career development.
* Represents Digital Department as assigned and performs other duties as assigned in support of the work of the department.
CONTACTS: SEIU Executive Officers and various senior leaders; Digital Dept leadership and staff; Political, Community and Union leaders and staff; SEIU International staff, employers and outside organizations.
DIRECTION AND DECISION MAKING: This position reports to the Assistant Director, Digital Dept. and must often work without supervision.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: A minimum of five (5) years of related work experience OR a combination of education and experience that would provide for the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:
* Experience developing and implementing strategy on campaigns, including organizing, contract, political, and legislative, as well as experience working with community allies.
* Thorough knowledge of digital strategies, especially related to paid and organic social media.
* Experience with streaming and staffing events.
* Excellent writing, verbal, and analytical skills.
* Demonstrated capacity to continuously develop knowledge and skills related to use of rapidly changing technology.
* Deep knowledge of unions and other advocacy organizations.
* Requires a high-level of discretion, judgment and ability to take initiative and work independently.
* Must maintain a high level of confidentiality.
* Must be able to handle multiple "priority" projects simultaneously and set and meet deadlines, and ensure that the staff team does the same. Works well under pressure.
* Skill in the use of technology including online organizing and communications platforms.
* Ability to speak, write and proofread Spanish a plus.
* Familiarity with CRMs, Adobe Creative Suite, and other web development tools and applications desired
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENT: Work is generally performed in an office setting; however, the job may require work in the field or in other settings to perform the tasks required to complete assignments. Must be available for frequent travel with overnight stays. Long and irregular hours.
