Working location

This is a hybrid role in a remote-first company. We are looking for someone to work on-site in the London area for our client organisations. The locations and number of days on-site week will vary, so flexibility is essential.

About you

You are a skilled and experienced DevOps engineer with a solid understanding of which tools and services to use in each situation. You provision cloud services using Infrastructure as Code and configure them for optimum performance per pound billed. You are proficient in creating and operating CI/CD pipelines to deliver incremental change and improvement. You tackle recurring cloud challenges such as cost optimisation, security and scaling.

Kubernetes is at the forefront of everything we do. You should be comfortable provisioning and configuring clusters in the cloud, on-premise and at the edge. You will deploy workloads using Helm charts, apply patches with Kustomize and author ArgoCD ApplicationSets with Go templating.

You will join a team of engineers ranging from junior to lead. You will report to the founder of the company, who functions as Architect and Principal Engineer.

To some of our clients, you will be the face of our company; professionalism and communication are key in this role.

Required skills and experience:

  • Minimum five years of experience as a Senior DevOps Engineer
  • Experience in a consultancy setting
  • Highly sought: Current AWS certification, e.g. Solutions Architecture (associate or Professional) or DevOps Professional, or GCP equivalents.

  • ArgoCD, Helm, Kustomize
  • Ansible, Puppet or Chef
  • Strong skills in Python and/or Golang
  • Bash scripting
  • CI/CD with GitHub Actions, CircleCI or Jenkins
  • Database, at least one of each SQL (preferably PostgreSQL) and NoSQL
  • Linux administration, Debian/Ubuntu, Alpine
  • Thorough understanding of networking
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and remotely
  • Security aware

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field
  • Sufficient real-world experience will be considered in lieu of a degree

We are multi-cloud, however most of our work is with AWS and GCP, and you should have experience of working with the following cloud services:

  • ECS, EKS, GKE, ECR, GAR
  • Lambda, Step Functions, Cloud Run
  • EC2, VPC and Load Balancing
  • S3 and GCS
  • RDS and Cloud SQL

We provide an employee benefits scheme that includes discounts on what you spend on retail, health, leisure and travel.
