DEVOPS / SRE

Gaiamesh, a rapidly growing AIoT proptech startup, is looking for an experienced DevOps / SRE.  We have dev teams based in Shanghai, Hong Kong and Bangkok, and focus on saving energy by optimizing energy efficiency for commercial buildings. We work with many big names in the industry, including JLL, Starbucks, and NYU. We are a small diverse team that drives a large impact, so you get to wear many hats and experience the growth of the next unicorn from the inside!

What you will do

As a DevOps / SRE, the systems you work on define the backbone of everything the company does: from IoT platform to developer experience. You are the main "line of defense" to make sure our customers see a stable, performant, and mature service.

Objectives of this role:

• Architecting scalable, maintainable, and efficient systems,
• Implementing best practices and QA processes within the team,
• Working closely with backend team to ensure stability and reliability of solutions,
• Building comprehensive observability and monitoring systems,
• Designing consistent backup, restoration, and retention strategies,
• Troubleshooting, resolving technical issues, and addressing challenges in implementation,
• Serving as a technical expert and evangelist for reliability best practices within the company.

Our technology stack includes:

• Powerful bare metal servers in colocation, running our own Kubernetes setup,
• 10 GbE network running on MikroTik RouterOS hardware,
• TimescaleDB (Postgres) time series database for IoT data with ~10K QPS on average,
• Backend written in Python/Django,
• Data ingestion pipeline utilizing MQTT and Redis Streams,
• Monitoring and observability based on Prometheus/Grafana,
• Multiple CI/CD pipelines.

Desired skills for this role include:

• Bare metal Linux administration, tuning, and performance optimization,
• Solid understanding of Kubernetes and Helm,
• Network tuning and optimization, RouterOS is a plus,
• Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines architecture, GitOps, Docker,
• Experience with observability and monitoring, OpenTelemetry, Grafana/ELK stack,
• Ability to fine tune PostgreSQL is a plus,
• Knowledge of OpenWRT or other embedded Linux is a plus.
