Our Client is the world's leading maker of fine, scale model cars for the most prestigious and iconic Formula 1 teams and luxury car brands. We have operations in the UK, Europe and Asia, with a team of about 400 people and sales operations covering most of the globe. We provide our customers with a whole range of models from limited edition sculpts and miniatures to unique, large scale, one-off builds, as well as a range of other non-automotive model services.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced manufacturing project manager to broaden their experience and develop their career in a varied and interesting new role. As the Senior Development Project Manager / Engineer and reporting directly to the Technical Director, you will be responsible for leading the successful delivery of Amalgam's standards in detail accuracy and high aesthetic quality. This is a new role, based in our Bristol offices but with some hybrid/flexible working possible (up to 2 days/week remote) and requiring regular international travel to Europe and Asia.
Focusing on product project development, the role will require you to:
Prioritize, plan and coordinate global project development activities.
Provide daily assistance to the development team to execute assigned projects within deadlines and budget.
Prepare and present reference and feedback material to support project status.
Provide timely and accurate analysis and resolution of project issues.
Work with the Production Team on new product introductions and existing product maintenance.
Lead design meetings with internal and external stakeholders. Effectively and efficiently manage each project on site, ensuring all stakeholders are kept updated and involved in scheme design through proactive communication.
Act as an escalation point for all project issues, containing these appropriately and managing risk.
Respond to requests for information or specification change with assessment of risk and cost and ensure full documentation.
Provide direction to the principle stakeholders to achieve a successful model launch that supports quality, cost and timing targets.
Prepare and present weekly project status reports to the management team
Actively participate in the development of engineering and company-wide process improvements.
Travel internationally (bi-annually to Hungary and quarterly to China).
Your Knowledge, Skills & Experience Should Include
Relevant degree or equivalent experience.
Fluency in Chinese and English languages (both spoken and written) - this is an essential requirement.
Knowledge of Project Management tools and methodologies.
Creative and aesthetic understanding and judgment.
Previous experience related to high complexity products and multidisciplinary job environment.
Model making, automotive, aerospace, defense or locomotive industry experience preferred.
Proven track record in delivering projects in an international business.
Critical, factual and data driven approach based on knowledge of problem solving and cause-effects analysis methodologies.
Design of products from specification through to production.
Production planning support and supply chain management,
Advanced level MS Excel skills and proficiency in producing effective presentations and full project reporting.
