As a Senior Design Manager working in the Alternative Projects & Technical Center Centre of Expertise (APEX) team at Pomerleau Construction, you will play a pivotal role driving collaboration as it relates to complex alternate projects. Working on various procurement models of large-scale projects – ranging from $100 million to upwards of $1 billion – you will have the opportunity to provide guidance, support and assistance to ensure collaboration with our Project Managers and support consultants from RFP design concept through to design during execution phase.

What You Will Do

  • Responsible for managing and coordinating the design development and technical aspects of a project, as part of a design-build project or other types of partnerships.
  • Leads the design team in developing a design proposal, implementing the winning strategies and the production of design optimization
  • Manage the development of the technical submission deliverables including narratives and drawings.
  • Manage the RFP process deliverables including presentations, drawings, specifications and other design deliverables as per the requirements of our clients and both our estimation and construction teams.
  • Collaborate with the estimating and construction teams to ensure adequate design risks and assumptions are managed and contained within project budgets.
  • Be a key player on the project team and collaborate with all internal and external stakeholders.
  • Lead end user stakeholder meetings to gather valuable feedback on the design and work to incorporate their feedback into the project.
  • Conduct and lead the internal design review process to incorporate constructability, costing, phasing and scheduling input from our team.
  • Mentor junior team members and manage delegated tasks.
  • Establish KPIs and monitor the external consultants’ firms' performance, especially in terms of quality, schedule and costs.

This role could be for you if you have

  • Degree in Architecture, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 15+ years managing design workflows and processes for General Contractors, architectural/engineering consulting firms and/or, building owners. Working at least for two of those entities is an asset.
  • Proficient in institutional projects and healthcare building design.
  • Familiarity with various procurement models in delivering major infrastructure projects; Public-Private Partnership (P3), Design & Build and Progressive Design & Build projects.… etc.
  • Familiarity with Building Information Modelling (BIM) and Virtual Design Construction (VDC) modelling.

Additional Assets Include

  • Master's degree or architectural licensure is an asset.
  • Experience in delivering Healthcare Projects is strongly preferred.
