Summary

The Director of Industrial Construction is a leadership role responsible for overseeing the management of project teams, driving successful project delivery, and supporting both project management and preconstruction efforts for an industrial design-build general contractor. This position ensures projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards, while fostering collaboration across internal teams and external stakeholders.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, manage, and mentor multidisciplinary project teams, including project managers, estimators, preconstruction staff, and design-build managers, to ensure productivity and a positive, client-focused culture
  • Oversee all phases of industrial construction projects, from initial planning and preconstruction through execution and closeout, ensuring alignment with client goals and company standards
  • Collaborate with clients, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and vendors to develop comprehensive project plans, schedules, and budgets
  • Direct the preconstruction process, including estimating, value engineering, risk assessment, and bid management, to ensure accurate proposals and successful project acquisition
  • Monitor project progress, budgets, and timelines; proactively identify and resolve issues to maintain project momentum and client satisfaction
  • Ensure compliance with all safety regulations, building codes, and legal requirements throughout the project lifecycle
  • Develop and implement standardized processes and procedures to improve operational efficiency and consistency across teams
  • Provide regular progress and financial reports to executive leadership, highlighting key milestones, risks, and opportunities
  • Support the hiring, training, and professional development of project and preconstruction staff, fostering a high-performance team environment
  • Act as a primary decision-maker on project-related matters, including contract negotiations, resource allocation, and conflict resolution


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field; advanced degree or professional certifications preferred
  • 10+ years of experience in construction project management OR preconstruction, with at least 5 years in a leadership role within design-build and industrial construction
  • Proven track record of managing complex, large-scale projects from preconstruction through completion
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and guide diverse teams
  • Expertise in project scheduling, budgeting, risk management, and contract negotiation
