The Senior Design and Network Engineer is expected to be a Subject Matter Expert (SME) covering the application of networking technology deployed across the Group. This includes both onshore and offshore facilities and the SME will also provide project design input and configuration expertise and support for Capital Projects and IT project / Programme domains.
As such, the individual will have the experience of designing and configuring small to large site infrastructure comprising LAN/WAN/Internet connectivity as well as a mixture of telecommunication services such as 4G/LTE, Radio and microwave.

Mastering the OSI Model, TCP/IP protocol suite (IP, ARP, ICMP, TCP, UDP, SMTP, FTP, TFTP)
Mastering of Layer-2 Switching, VLAN’s and Access-list
Mastering WiFi, authentication, security technologies, Internet, SDWAN, MPLS and Voice over IP (VoIP)
Mastering IP addressing and subnetting and routing concepts
Switches: Full configuration and VLAN setup on Cisco switches
Router: Full configuration and monitoring of Cisco routers including VLAN’s
Years Of Relevant Experience
12-16 leading and executing Telecoms project delivery, Telecoms operations, or IT consultancy assignments to design, develop and deliver viable network and telecom solutions, preferably in Oil and Gas or similar industry with offshore experience preferred..
Must Have Skills
Telecoms Industry knowledge with extensive experience in Networks and Telecommunications, Testing and Commissioning
Agile and scrum experience
Consistently delivered results in a matrix, global virtualized organization
Experience in working with suppliers
Experience in negotiation skills
Excellent communication skills, verbal and written
Proven experience in stakeholder and relationship management including external vendors
Ability to translate technical requirements and specifications into easily understood business concepts and vice versa
Implemented SNMP on devices to allow for network management
Demonstrated hands-on experience designing and engineering networking and security systems in previous roles including experience in managing telecom requirements (design and operational) for local site facilities
Good to Have but negotiable
Knowledge of environmental and electrical safety in hazardous (IEC EX) that impact design of telecoms systems used in process plants; Upstream / Downstream IT infrastructure and telecom solutions e.g. Process Control/SCADA, Safety Critical Elements
Knowledge of project delivery methodology for managing both IT and Capital Projects in Oil and Gas
Any Certifications
Cisco router/switching/security certification, at minimum CCNP

Python programming and app development skills for programmable networks

Experience working in an (partially) outsourced environment
Service Management processes (Support Models, Service Level Management, Contract Management and Supplier Management)

Lead small network projects or lead network scope in larger projects.
Collect all network and telecom requirements
Work with design team to produce design meeting requirements based on Shell standards
Develop deployment strategy and lead deployment including handover to operations by coordinating activities across suppliers, internal IT teams and business stakeholders
Knowledge sharing and drive continuous improvement across the community
Education Qualification Preference (If any)
Minimum Education or Certification: Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Telecommunications or equivalent work experience
Skills:- Network, Palo Alto, HLD, Firewall and LLD
