Job Description
The Customer Success Services (CSS) organization consists of a diverse, highly skilled, and specialized team Advanced Services Engineers (ASE) who bring deep technical expertise in the entire Oracle Product and technology set. As integral part of a global Organization, the ASE will be working within an international environment and contribute to global technology driven initiatives or innovation programs for continuous service improvements. Regular training is available and required to maintain an up to date knowledge of latest developments of Oracle products and services.
For this position, we look for an experienced, talented, and self-motivated Advanced Services Engineers to work with customers across the world.
Working as a Database Specialist this position is part of the CSS Expertise Center Delivery organization. The role is focused on Database support for Oracle Database product running on various platforms, Oracle or non-Oracle, including Oracle Engineered Systems Platforms but also in SPARC platforms, and on Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) or Cloud at Customer (ExaCC) deployments.
Responsibilities
What You’ll Do - Be the vital piece of the puzzle that connects us to the millions of businesses that need our help to evolve.
- Provide and implement performance and tuning recommendations for all components of the Exadata machine.
- Perform Exadata storage servers upgrades and patching.
- Exposure to Cloud technologies like Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), ExaCS & ExaCC will be an added advantage.
- Understanding of Luns, Cell Disk, and Grid disk.
- Implementation experience of exadata features.
- Understanding of CELLCLI and DCLI.
- Performance tuning of Exadata component.
- Troubleshooting experience in Exadata components.
- Installation and configuration of OEM with Exadata

- Extensive knowledge and solid troubleshooting experience in all areas of Oracle database technology.
- Advanced level skills in RAC, ASM, Performance tuning, HA, Backup and Recovery
- Experience in database upgrades, migrations, installations and patching
- Ability to quickly grasp complex technical issues
- Hands-on with Oracle Database migration/upgrade using different methodologies Data Pump & RMAN Transportable Tablespaces.
- Hands-on database performance troubleshooting skills.
- DB Performance tuning skills are must.
- Experience with Perl, Unix Shell Scripting, and Python for custom monitoring and automation
- Knowledge and experience in administration of engineered system products like Exadata and ZDLRA
- Experience in Engineered system Maximum Availability Architecture
- Clear understanding of Exadata features like Flash cache, Storage Index, HCC and IORM
- Understanding Engineered system Health Check
- Exadata Full stack patching and Upgrade
- Thorough understanding of Oracle Database Architecture including the latest version of Oracle 11g, 12c & 19c.
- Solid troubleshooting experience in areas such as RAC, ASM, Exadata, Performance tuning, Data Guard (Physical and Logical), DG Broker.
- Experience in handling complex database recovery scenarios.
- Troubleshooting various installation and patching issues.
- Exadata bundle patching includes Storage cell, DB server, PDUs and network switches
- RDBMS and GRID patching experience
- Hands on experience in Exadata patching experience.

PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
- University Degree or comparable education/professional experience
- Previous work experience in a Support, Consulting, IT Operations or Administration organization would be ideal
- Oracle Certified Associate and/or Professional qualification will be an advantage
