Job Overview:
We are seeking a talented and confident senior Database Administrator to work with one of our marquee clients in the motor racing sector on the US East Coast. The primary purpose of the project will be consolidating databases after a recent client acquisition and will involve heavy use of MS SQL and PowerShell
Responsibilities:
Design, implement, and maintain database systems ensuring high performance, availability, and security
Develop and implement database backup and recovery procedures, maintaining data integrity and business continuity
Monitor database performance, capacity planning, and implement optimization strategies
Automate routine administrative tasks using PowerShell and other scripting tools
Establish and maintain database security measures, including access controls and encryption
Collaborate with development teams to improve database design and query optimization
Provide 24/7 on-call support for critical database issues (rotating schedule)
Mentor junior DBAs and provide technical guidance to team members
Requirements:
Knowledge and experience of SQL licensing
5+ years of hands-on experience as a Database Administrator
Expert-level knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server (2016 or later versions)
Proven experience with PowerShell scripting for database automation
Strong understanding of database security best practices and compliance requirements
Experience with high-availability solutions (Always On Availability Groups, Failover Clustering)
Proficiency in performance tuning and optimization techniques
Availability to work US EST hours.
Preferred Skills:
Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate
Experience with cloud database services and migration
Knowledge of DevOps practices and tools
Experience with database version control and change management
Familiarity with container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes)
