About the Role

Our client, a technology startup, is seeking an experienced Data Engineer to join their growing team. This is a unique opportunity working with real-time data, so you will need experience working with latency sensitive, high frequency and real-time data.

Key Responsibilities

• Take ownership of CI/CD workflows and production dataflows
• Develop backend data pipelines that support real-time data processing 
• Build tools to efficiently collect, transform, and store complex sports data from multiple sources
• Introduce safeguards and monitoring tools to catch anomalies and maintain data accuracy 
• Translate requirements into scalable engineering solutions in collaboration with the research team
• Play an active role in shaping engineering standards while supporting the growth of less experienced team members

Skills and Experience

Our client is seeking an experienced end-to-end Data Engineer (minimum 3 years experience). You must have experience with real-time streaming systems (think Kafka, Kinesis or ZeroMQ) and well-versed in Python, SQL and C# or C++. 

You must be based in Sydney and willing to work in the office for at least 2-3 days. As this is a new, growing startup focusing on sports, some weekend work is expected during the early phases.
