About the Team
The Senior Data Engineer will join the SaaS Engineering Group at Nutanix, based in San Jose, California. This team is dedicated to building innovative data solutions, specifically focusing on creating Single Sources of Truth (SSOT) for various departments, including sales and corporate strategy. The culture within the team emphasizes collaboration, clarity, and authenticity, fostering an environment where team members are encouraged to share technical insights and work together on complex data challenges. The mission of the SaaS Engineering Group is to streamline data operations and support informed decision-making across the organization through effective data engineering practices.
You will report to the Hiring Manager, who values a structured and thorough approach to the interview process and encourages clarity and authenticity in communication. The manager emphasizes strong team collaboration while promoting individual contributions and problem-solving. The position offers a hybrid work setup, requiring the new hire to be in the office a few days a week, providing flexibility while ensuring effective teamwork and communication.
This role does not include travel requirements, allowing the Senior Data Engineer to focus on developing and maintaining data pipelines and collaborating with internal teams from within the San Jose office environment.
Your Role
* Develop and maintain data pipelines and ETL processes to support data accessibility.
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams to establish and enhance Single Source of Truth (SSOT) systems.
* Write, optimize, and execute complex SQL queries for data extraction and analysis.
* Ensure data quality and integrity throughout the data lifecycle across all departments.
* Participate in code reviews and contribute to the establishment of best practices in data engineering.
* Engage in technical discussions to provide insights and recommendations on data architecture.
* Support the onboarding of new data engineering tools and technologies for team efficiency.
* Achieve first-year objectives by leading SSOT initiatives for sales and corporate strategy-related data projects.
What You Will Bring
* 8-10 years of experience in data engineering.
* Strong backend data engineering skills with proficiency in SQL.
* Experience in the Business Intelligence (BI) domain.
* Ability to build Single Source of Truth (SSOT) systems.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
* Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly.
* Experience maintaining data quality and integrity across data lifecycles.
* Familiarity with BI tools and data pipeline development.
Work Arrangement
Hybrid: This role operates in a hybrid capacity, blending the benefits of remote work with the advantages of in-person collaboration. For most roles, that will mean coming into an office a minimum of 2 - 3 days per week, however certain roles and/or teams may require more frequent in-office presence. Additional team-specific guidance and norms will be provided by your manager.
The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between USD $128,000 and USD $255,600 per year.
However, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a sign-on bonus, restricted stock units, and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
