The opportunity - Te tūranga

In this role as Senior Data Engineer, you will play a crucial part in designing and implementing fit-for-purpose, well-architected solutions that will serve us well for years to come.

Working with our wider data team, you will work on cloud-first data solutions, assist with legacy system data migration, helping to modernise the legacy solutions to drive success in the future.

Your role will focus on

• Managing and contributing to TVNZ's data movements including Data ingestion, Data curation and Data consumption.
• Operate in our existing Azure Data Platform (including all relevant service offerings), having the continuous improvement mindset to challenge status of quo and seek better solutions.
• Participate in Data modelling exercise and be a champion in TVNZ data domains such as Content, Consumer, Events, Finance etc.
• Apply best practice where possible such as source control, infrastructure as code, CI/CD etc. Be a crucial contributor to TVNZ data platform monitoring observability.
• Design, implement and document well-architected cloud based data pipeline and integration solutions, work closely with Architects to ensure the solutions are sound, fit-for-purpose and future proof.
• Working in an Agile environment and be an important individual contributor to the overall success of the team and the Data Platform we support.
  
  

This is a 12 month fixed term contract.

What we're looking for - Tā mātou e kimi nei

To be successful in this role, we are looking for:

• Experience in designing and building robust ETL/ELT pipelines and you'll be familiar with the following services -Databricks, Azure Data factory, ADLS, Logic App, Azure Functions, API Management, Cosmos DB etc
• Be a seasoned Data developer with sound experience on Big Data processing using PySpark, SQL, Python and other technologies.
• Hands on experience in MDP (modern data platform) in but not limited to the following: Databricks (must have), Snowflake, Azure Data Platform, or equivalent offering in AWS.
• Track record of setting up data platform observabilities, data quality monitoring, and having strong view of what good data quality means.
• Experience in ML modelling building + Realtime data process will be highly regarded.
• Someone who is well versed in development best practice, proven technical capability in designing and implementing IaC, CI/CD, source control in context of data development.
• Someone who appreciates code quality and has a way forward for ensure the quality of code using linting, unit testing and etc
• Experience in Azure monitoring solutions in the context of Data Platform to oversee data pipeline run history, pipeline health, performance, cost efficiency and overall data quality.
• Understand critical corporate reports/dashboards and the dataset behind them, provide support when issue happens.
