Position Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Controls Technician to join our San Diego team. This position is responsible for installing, commissioning, maintaining, and troubleshooting building automation systems. The ideal candidate is experienced, organized, safety-conscious, and thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, wire, and commission control panels, field devices, and network infrastructure
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve issues with BAS components and HVAC systems
- Perform preventive maintenance, calibration, and functional testing of automation systems
- Read and interpret mechanical plans, electrical diagrams, and control schematics
- Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and subcontractors to ensure project success
- Document work performed using digital tools, as-builts, and daily reports
- Follow jobsite safety procedures and maintain compliance with OSHA and company standards
Minimum Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in building automation, HVAC controls, or related technical field
- Proficiency with tools and methods for troubleshooting, maintenance, and system installation
- Experience in conduit bending, wire pulling, and panel terminations
- Familiarity with electrical systems, low-voltage wiring, and safety best practices
- Ability to read and understand mechanical and electrical drawings
- Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
- Legal authorization to work in the United States
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Delta Controls or Siemens building automation systems
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification
- Manufacturer certifications in building controls systems
- Journeyman Electrician certification or equivalent experience
Work Schedule and Conditions
- Full-time, typically Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM (some nights, overtime or travel within Southern California may be required depending on the project)
- On-site fieldwork, including mechanical rooms, rooftops, and construction sites
- Company vehicle or mileage reimbursement available for eligible positions
