JOB SUMMARY: This position provides and maintains technical support of Cleveland Public Library.

Job Requirements

Education: ▪ Associate degree in computer science, electronic technology/engineering is required. ▪ Bachelor’s degree is preferred.

Experience:

  • Five years’ experience in the following areas required: analyzing and resolving computer hardware problems; network troubleshooting.
  • Minimum of three years’ experience in the following areas is required: a. MS Windows Active Directory including Forests, domain controllers and the use of management tools for objects such as users and computers. b. Network PC and domain-level management.

Technical Expertise

  • Knowledge of and experience with Hypervisors for virtual server creation management.
  • Knowledge of imaging software methods such as Windows Deployment Tools
  • Experience with current computing practices, standards, and equipment is required.
  • Experience with router commands is preferred.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office 365 is required.
  • Experience working with all levels within an organization is required.
  • Experience in public library, public-sector, and a union environment is preferred.
  • Proficiency in MS Office or similar software is required. Relevant business management systems such as general ledger, HRIS, etc. Munis experience preferred.

Certifications: Active CompTia A+ and Microsoft Azure Fundamental certification strongly preferred. If candidate/employee does not possess certifications upon appointment, certifications must be obtained within one year of employment and maintained. Driver License: Required Other License: NA

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Evaluation of this position is based primarily on performance of the following essential functions, which include, but are not limited to:

  • Installs, tests, images, configures, and troubleshoots hardware and software applications and equipment on networked systems.
  • Creates and maintains Active Directory domain user and computer accounts.
  • Creates and modifies Windows group policies.
  • Creates and maintains Windows virtual machines.
  • Conducts remote troubleshooting, maintenance and deployment of software applications.
  • Installs cabling and wiring for system computers, servers and networks, and peripheral equipment.
  • Troubleshoots and resolves system hardware, software, and communications problems including coordinating with vendors.
  • Provides staff with technical support related to the use of desktop computers, laptops, tablets, including but not limited to, hardware, software, and peripheral equipment such as printers, scanners, etc.
  • Provides information regarding the use and functionality of hardware and software.
  • Recommends changes to improve and optimize computer and network functionality.
  • Performs network administration duties including monitoring and adding applications, users and devices, modifying user profiles, monitoring storage utilization, and documenting network changes and revisions.
  • Administers system-level security procedures including establishing and maintaining user accounts, assigning file permissions, and administering password and account policies.
  • Inventories new equipment and maintains data in the fixed assets system.
  • Logs problems in help desk software to monitor and resolve issues.
  • Performs work after hours and on weekends as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
