Job Description Description SAIC is seeking Senior Computer Engineers to support the US Navy in Middletown, RI. JOB DESCRIPTION: Designs, develops, documents, tests and debugs applications software and systems that require low-level control processing (Interrupts, Timers Digital I/O and serial communication protocols) for electronic, electro-mechanical, or electro-optic equipment. Develops embedded software for use on real-time and near real-time operating systems and processors including networking and radio systems. Requires basic knowledge of reading schematics of complex electronic assemblies. Conducts multidisciplinary research and collaborates with equipment designers and/or hardware engineers in the planning, design, development, and utilization of electronic data processing systems for product and commercial software. Determines computer user needs; analyzes system capabilities to resolve problems on program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques and controls; prepares operating instructions; designs and develops compilers and assemblers, utility programs, and operating systems. Ensures software standards are met. JOB DUTIES: * Reviewing project requirements and documentation * Documenting work * Attending team meetings to discuss progress * Collaborating with other engineers on code reviews * Collaborating with multidiscipline teams for system interaction * Designing system architecture * Writing code in various languages like C++, C, or Verilog * Troubleshooting system issues and debugging code to fix errors (Could be within an IDE or IDP/Hardware) * Testing functionalities (System integration testing or Unit testing) * Travel to offsite/field location for hand-on system testing/integration Qualifications REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND CLEARANCE: * BS in Electrical or Computer engineering and 5+ years' experience * Minimum of 4 years as a Senior Software Engineer * Created from scratch Software Requirement Specifications (Requirements Management) * Created from scratch Software Design Descriptions (Software Design) * Performed software document reviews * Performed technical code reviews * Performed formal software testing with test cases * Resolved Software Defects by root cause analysis * Proficiency with Unified Modeling Language (UML) * Hands-on use of Calibrated Lab Equipment (Logic Analyzer, Oscilloscope, Power Supplies, etc.) * Most Proficient in C++ Language * Highly Proficient in a Desktop Language (Preferably C#) * Ability to read an Electrical Engineering schematic * Candidate must be a US Citizen * Candidate must be able to obtain a Secret clearance.
