Summary

Full Time 5800 Farinon Drive Professional Non-Nursing Day Shift POSITION SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES Works under the direct supervision of the Coding and Reimbursement Manager, Health Information Management. Codes Inpatient, Observations and Outpatient Surgery visits utilizing the ICD-9-CM and CPT coding classification systems. Ensures proper DRG assignment and completion of a Diagnosis and Procedure Coding Abstract on all cases. Promotes the Health System's guest relations' policy. Complies with all Federal and State Regulations and accrediting bodies including but not limited to HIPAA and JCAHO. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE A High school diploma or its equivalent is required. Must have at least 10 years of coding experience in a health care setting plus successful completion of a Certified Coding Program or Health Information Management Program. In addition, candidate must possess one of the following certifications: Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), Registered Health Information Administrator, (RHIA) or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS). Must be knowledgeable of regulatory requirements. Must be knowledgeable of Microsoft Office products as well as 3M Encoding and Grouping software. LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION Must maintain a valid credential offered by: American Health Information Management Association.
