Responsibilities:

  • Network Management & Senior Systems Engineering:
    • Assist with the development and execution of long-range strategic plans (network, server and identity infrastructure) for a complex administrative and instructional organization.
    • Manage and ensure optimal operation of all network hardware and equipment, including routers, switches, hubs, UPSs, and so on.
    • Develop and deploy methodologies for testing network performance and providing network performance statistics and reports.
    • Provide specification for hardware and software requirements and functionality for the Client network.
    • Provide management and expertise for troubleshooting of network and system operating systems, applications, databases and associated communications and interfaces including Microsoft, Cisco, and common network communication protocols.
    • Provide supervision and expertise for troubleshooting of Client communications equipment and cabling such as routers, switches, gateways, fiber optic cables, unshielded twisted pair cable and associated pin configuration.
    • Supervise the installation and maintenance of network equipment such as servers, power supplies, memory, hard disk arrays, controllers and other associated hardware.
    • Research, evaluate, recommend, and deploy new technology (network products, services, protocols and standards), whether on premise or hosted on campus or by a cloud provider, to seamlessly integrate within the existing Client infrastructure.
    • Establish and maintain regular written and in-person communications with the organization's executives, decision-makers, stakeholders, department heads, and end users regarding pertinent network activities.
    • Manage and ensure effectiveness of security solutions, including firewalls, and intrusion detection systems.
    • Practice network asset management, including maintenance of network component inventory (system and end-user) and related documentation.
  • Cloud Engineer:
    • Manage and ensure effectiveness of computing infrastructure, including physical, virtual, hosted, network and cloud infrastructure and their associated operating systems and software.
    • Consult with other member of ACIS staff to initiate timely solutions to cloud, network and systems problems.
    • Serve as a point of escalation (third tier) regarding connectivity issues.
    • Infrastructure as Code: Design and security, configuration management, integration, deployment, performance monitoring and tuning, automation of infrastructure.
Required Qualifications:

  • KSAs.

  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks while under pressure.

  • Demonstrated working knowledge of the technical hardware and software requirements and functionality of the client network including detailed knowledge of networking protocols, including TCP / IP, OSPF, BGP, SNP, QoS, IPsec, GRE, DNS, WINS and DHCP.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of Client-based network and server operating systems, applications, databases and associated communications and interfaces including Microsoft, AWS, Cisco Dell.
  • Detailed knowledge of routing and switching technology.
  • Ability to adhere to standard IT Service Management and ITIL best practices including incident, problem root cause analysis, change and configuration management procedures.
  • Working knowledge required to provision, manage, monitor, and decommission cloud services in Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Services.
  • Strong system administration (Linux / Unix or Windows) at the command-line level, including strong scripting skillset.

Preferred Skills:

  • Ability to exercise independent judgment and take action on it.

Pay Rate: $70 - $75 / Hour
