PeopleTec is currently seeking a Senior Cloud Architect to support our growing digital modernization and AI/ML-based cloud initiatives across multiple DoD customers and mission areas. This individual will serve as the technical authority on enterprise-level cloud architecture and will be responsible for guiding the strategy, design, deployment, and governance of secure, scalable, and resilient cloud ecosystems across classified and unclassified environments. As a Senior Cloud Architect, you will work closely with engineering, cybersecurity, AI/ML, and DevSecOps teams to deliver mission-focused solutions aligned with Army and DoD data modernization strategies. You will have a strong understanding of Azure cloud services, DoD compliance requirements, and modern Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tooling and practices.
Duties:
* Lead the design and implementation of scalable, secure, and compliant cloud architectures (Azure preferred) across multiple Army and DoD programs.
* Architect and optimize IaaS, PaaS, SaaS, and DaaS offerings to support mission-driven applications, including AI/ML workloads and data mesh infrastructure.
* Oversee the design and integration of secure virtual networks, private endpoints, identity services, and cloud-native API management solutions.
* Develop and maintain reusable templates and patterns using Terraform, BICEP, and ARM for rapid, secure cloud resource provisioning.
* Collaborate with cybersecurity teams to ensure cloud environments meet DoD RMF, NIST SP 800-171/53, FIPS, and AR 25-2 standards.
* Drive modernization initiatives including on-prem to cloud migrations, hybrid architecture development, and cost optimization strategies.
* Serve as a mentor to cloud engineers, guiding solution development, reviewing implementation plans, and fostering a DevSecOps culture.
* Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to align cloud strategies with enterprise digital transformation goals.
* Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation including architecture diagrams, security control mappings, and operational guides.
Qualifications
Required Skills/Experience:
* DoD 8570 compliant (Security+ or higher)
* 8+ years of experience in enterprise IT
* 4+ years in cloud architecture roles
* 3+ years architecting secure solutions in Microsoft Azure, including:
* VNet, UDR, Azure Private Link, App Gateway
* Azure Key Vault, RBAC, and Managed Identities
* Azure API Management and App Services
* High Availability and Geo-Redundant Storage (GRS)
* Strong knowledge of cloud automation and orchestration tools (Terraform, BICEP, ARM templates)
* Experience integrating CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, or similar
* Familiarity with monitoring and diagnostics via Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and App Insights
* Strong understanding of RMF, NIST, FISMA, and AR 25-2 compliance standards
* Must be a U.S. Citizen
* An active DoD Secret clearance is required to perform this work (Top Secret eligible). Candidates are required to have an active Secret clearance upon hire, and the ability to maintain this level of clearance during their employment.
Education Requirements:
* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (Master's preferred)
Desired Skills:
* Azure Solutions Architect Expert certification or equivalent
* Experience supporting Army Test and Evaluation Command (ATEC), AMCOM, MSIC, or Redstone Test Center
* Familiarity with AI/ML workloads and data mesh concepts in cloud environments
* Experience managing hybrid or multi-cloud environments (AWS, GCC High)
* Working knowledge of ACAS, STIGs, and DoD vulnerability scanning/reporting tools
