Job Description

Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Senior Civil/Structural Engineer to

provide expert guidance and oversight to ensure the successful delivery of aviation fuel infrastructure within the project. With extensive experience in civil/structural engineering, the candidate will oversee the design, construction, and integration of critical infrastructure components, ensuring safety, quality, and compliance with industry standards. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to a high-impact project within the aviation sector while working in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Client Representation and Oversight:
  • Act as the client’s civil/structural engineering representative within the project team overseeing aviation fuel infrastructure development.
  • Ensure that the civil and structural components of the project meet all technical, safety, and regulatory requirements.
  • Design Review and Assurance:
  • Review contractor and consultant deliverables, including civil/structural designs, calculations, reports, and construction drawings, ensuring quality and compliance with project specifications.
  • Provide feedback and assure that all designs align with applicable codes and standards (e.g., API, ACI, ASCE, ICAO, NFPA 407).
  • Compliance Monitoring:
  • Monitor adherence to industry codes and standards, including API, ACI, ASCE, ICAO, NFPA 407, and any relevant airport authority standards.
  • Ensure that all designs and construction activities meet the relevant regulatory requirements.
  • Constructability and Value Engineering:
  • Support constructability reviews, providing input for value engineering to optimize design solutions, reduce costs, and improve efficiency without compromising safety or quality.
  • Actively participate in design coordination efforts to ensure smooth integration across disciplines and minimize conflicts.
  • Integration and Coordination:
  • Ensure proper integration of civil and structural designs with mechanical, electrical, and fuel systems disciplines.
  • Facilitate coordination meetings between different engineering disciplines to resolve potential conflicts early in the design phase.
  • Risk Management and Technical Reviews:
  • Participate in risk assessments, technical reviews, and design change evaluations to mitigate potential issues and ensure project continuity.
  • Support the identification and resolution of design-related challenges during the project’s lifecycle.
  • Site Monitoring and Quality Assurance:
  • Monitor civil and structural site activities to ensure compliance with design, quality standards, and safety protocols.
  • Oversee progress on-site, providing guidance to the construction team, and resolving any issues that may arise during the execution phase.
  • Stakeholder Liaison:
  • Serve as the key point of contact between the client, contractors, airport authorities, and other stakeholders to address and resolve engineering issues.
  • Ensure timely communication and effective resolution of technical challenges, providing clear direction on engineering matters.
  • Project Support:
  • Provide engineering insights to support project planning, phasing, and logistics, particularly in operational airport environments.
  • Ensure that engineering solutions align with the operational needs of the airport, minimizing disruptions and supporting smooth project delivery.
  • Technical Documentation and Response Management:
  • Review and respond to RFIs (Requests for Information), submittals, and technical queries during the construction phase.
  • Maintain proper documentation and records to support the project’s progress and engineering decisions.
  • Cost, Schedule, and Change Control:
  • Provide technical expertise to support cost management, schedule adherence, and change control processes.
  • Collaborate with project managers and contractors to identify and address issues that may impact the project’s scope, cost, or timeline.
