Main Purpose
Reporting to the Procurement Supervisor, the Senior Buyer will be responsible for providing support to the various business functions in all procurement related activities. The incumbent will be responsible for managing the procure-to-pay process, leading supplier performance reviews, managing strategic supplier relationships, tracking & reporting procurement KPI’s, and identifying value adding improvements to existing processes/contracts. To excel in this role, the incumbent will need to be operationally minded and possess the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. The role will work closely with the Accounts Payable, Treasury, Operations and Maintenance teams. The position requires a mature leader, who is a flexible team player with a “can-do” attitude.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- English basic knowledge (Fluent in English will be and added advantage).
- Portuguese (desirable).
- Possess an undergraduate degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, or Business-related qualification (Master’s degree not required, but will be an added advantage).
- Industry experience in Oil & Gas.
- Minimum 5 years Procurement experience (Ideally 2-3 years management experience OR 4+ years in a senior operations / senior supply chain specialist role).
- Ability to manage commercial relationships with local suppliers.
- Excellent negotiation and project management skills.
- Problem solver, team player, with exceptional communication and persuasive skills.
- Mature leader with experience managing conflict.
- Basic functional skills using ERP systems (SAP, Navision).
- Working knowledge of legal matters relating to Procurement.
- Able to accurately manage and analyze high levels of data.
- Demonstrates integrity and ethics.
Procurement Leadership & Reporting
- Initiate, coordinate, and manage all procurement activities including, but not limited to, processing requisitions, creating purchase orders, managing spot purchases, leading tender processes, negotiating contracts, expediting supply, collecting, and analyzing supply market intelligence, leading benchmarking exercises.
- Monitor and report Procurement KPIs for the respective scope of works (incl. Savings, OTIF, P2P Cycle Time).
- Manage supplier payment terms in collaboration with internal cross functional teams (Accounts Payable, Treasury).
- Innovate to pursue optimization of the Total Cost of Ownership. Establish plans and controls for the same.
Sourcing and Negotiation
- Lead multi-disciplinary teams in contract negotiations.
- Identify, propose, and lead savings initiatives in the following areas:
- Technical requirements (standardization, value engineering).
- Volumes (consolidation, rationalization).
- Vendor pool diversification (new vendor sourcing).
- Pricing (payment terms, warranties).
- Initiate and manage the vendor qualification (KYC) process in collaboration with the compliance team.
- Build and maintain a network of industry contacts and manage Impala’s strategic procurement relationships with key suppliers.
Supplier Selection and Contracting
- Create vendor short lists for RFP’s and for RFQ’s.
- Initiate and manage the end-to-end RFP/RFQ process.
- Lead the negotiation of commercial contract terms.
- Ensure that the outcomes of negotiations are captured and written into the ensuing contracts.
- Liaise with Impala Legal for drafting & approval of all contract terms & conditions.
- Manage contractor performance (e.g. compliance to terms, vendor disputes, invoicing, warranty issues) in collaboration with all relevant stakeholders.
