Job Type: Direct Hire

Salary Range: $120,000 – $140,000 (Exempt)

Work Hours: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Job Summary


Our client, a leading private university in Los Angeles, CA is seeking a Senior Business Intelligence Developer to join its Information Systems team and support their Medical Enterprise. This role is responsible for developing, testing, and implementing business intelligence solutions for various departments. The Senior BI Developer will act as the subject matter expert for dashboards and be responsible for identifying and documenting IT design specifications, conducting need-gap analyses, ensuring data integrity, maintaining system security, and extracting, analyzing, and transforming data.


Key Responsibilities

Dashboard Development: Apply SDLC methodology to develop, test, and deploy enterprise dashboards.


Data Visualization Design: Implement user experience principles to optimize dashboard usability.


Training & Support:

  • Train new staff members on applicable systems and applications.
  • Provide training to customers and vendors on newly implemented systems.


Priority Management:

  • Manage multiple assignments, deadlines, and priorities.
  • Collaborate across teams while working independently when necessary.


Customer Service & Technical Support:

  • Address customer inquiries, service requests, and troubleshooting with a professional and solution-oriented approach.
  • Support both internal department users and external vendors.


Reporting & Business Intelligence:

  • Generate ad-hoc and routine reports for business decision-making.
  • Transform raw data into actionable insights and predictive analytics.


Documentation & Compliance:

  • Develop functional requirement documents (FRDs).
  • Draft mock-ups of data visualizations before building dashboards.


Education & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Computer Engineering, or a related field required.
  • In lieu of a degree, 10 years of relevant experience in business or IT support will be considered.
  • At least 6 years of relevant experience in BI reporting, dashboard design, implementation, upgrades, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
  • Strong experience with Structured Query Language (MS SQL Server, Oracle).
  • QlikView and QlikSense experience preferred (minimum 2 years).
  • Hands-on experience with other BI tools such as Tableau and Power BI.
  • Expertise in database systems, including design, capacity planning, and management.
  • Experience working with healthcare data and systems is a plus.
