What will I be doing? ü Responsible for developing and implementing strategies that would generate a variety of loan opportunities, including local loan programs and Small Business Administration (SBA) 504 loans ü Utilize a wide network of referral sources, such as banks and other lending partners, the business developer must regularly and continually meet or exceed loan production objectives to help grow the loan portfolio of the Houston-Galveston Area Local Development Corporation ü Package loan applications and examines documents for completeness, accuracy, and validity from origination through closing ü Apply sound credit analysis skills to vet loan applications, assign credit risk scores to loans, and prepare and present credit approval requests for the loan committee ü Plans, host, and lead marketing and training events related to lending programs and important small business topics ü Provide expert level guidance and coaching to prospective and tenured business owners and entrepreneurs ü Help business owners and entrepreneurs improve business management, marketing, fiscal, and technical strategies while also identifying opportunities to help them learn, partner, grow and thrive ü Communicate with team members, businesses, lending institutions, industry associations, government entities, economic development organizations, consultants and other stakeholders while providing excellent customer service to ensure relationships are maintained at the highest possible level ü Analyze, problem solve, and make sound decisions based on policies and procedures ü Develop and update business and marketing strategies, and maintain hard copy files, electronic records, and information maintained in tracking systems Key Qualifications ü Experience as a loan officer or in business-to-business sales, business consulting, or business development ü Experience in project management ü Knowledge of small business lending and financing programs ü Experienced at prospecting, cold calling, researching leads, and maintaining a method for regular follow-up with customers ü Ability to read and understand various financial documents such as credit reports, tax returns, balance sheet, insurance documents and bank statements ü Proficient in Microsoft Office software applications Do you have… ü Bachelor's degree in an applicable academic discipline or related field of study ü 5 years of experience working with local government, nonprofit programs, school or in job related duties
