Our client - Handwave is a pioneering DeepTech company based in Latvia, specializing in cutting-edge palm-based payment and authentication solutions. Our technology eliminates the need for physical cards or devices, offering a seamless and secure experience for daily transactions.

We are looking for a talented Senior Backend (Java) Developer to join Handwave team and help them shape the future of biometric payment systems. If you are passionate about building robust backend systems and enjoy working in a fast-paced, innovative environment, this role is for you!

Job description:

• Design, develop, test, and maintain backend components for new and existing applications;
• Build and optimize RESTful and other types of microservices to ensure scalability and performance;
• Team up with other groups and contributors to deliver connected and unified systems;
• Conduct detailed code reviews to maintain high-quality standards;
• Ensure application performance, security, and scalability;
• Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and advocate for their adoption within the team;
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues efficiently.

Requirements:

• At least 5 years of experience in backend development, with strong expertise in Java and microservices architecture using Spring Boot or similar frameworks;
• Solid knowledge of SQL or NoSQL databases;
• Practical experience with CI/CD tools, like Jenkins, Docker, and GitLab pipelines;
• Familiarity with cloud services and frontend development skills are an advantage;
• Fluent level of Latvian and english languages;
• A strong understanding of payment systems or payment technologies is highly desirable;
• Excellent coding, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to optimize systems for performance and reliability.
