About the Role

We are looking for a strong senior programmer who can own the backend of the GPU marketplace. Your primary responsibility will be to develop and maintain the server-side logic, databases, and integration for the front-end at cloud.vast.ai.

The company is an engineering-lead company. Every application is reviewed directly by a technical member of the team.

You will be a core contributor that allows Vast to scale to millions of GPUs.

Example Projects

• Migrate a PostgreSQL DB from remote RDS to local in-memory.
• Implement full backend logic for a new SLA reliability feature.
• Convert ad hoc logging file output to a modern logging backend.
• Quickly investigate and summarize options for new system architectures.
• Enhance database performance, including schema design and query optimization.
• Implement robust data security and backup strategies
• Optimize cloud infrastructure for scalability and cost-efficiency.
  
  

You Are

• Comfortable in a variety of tools and languages such as Python, C++, SQL, JavaScript, React, CSS.
• Capable and willing to quickly investigate and learn new frameworks and tools.
• A fan of occasional remote pair programming.
• Passionate about building scalable and reliable high throughput websites.
• Excited about the potential of AI.
  
  

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience writing high-performance, well tested, production quality code.
• Proven track record in building large scale, fault tolerant, distributed systems like storage, search, and computation.
• Senior level programmer in C/C++, Python and PostgreSQL.
• Exceptional knowledge of low-level operating systems concepts including multi-threading, networking and storage, memory management, performance and scale.
• Familiar with GPU programming, NCCL, CUDA is a plus.
  
  

Annual Salary Range

$130,000 - $200,000 + equity + benefits
