This role will assist the Coordinator of Physical Security Systems in maintaining and troubleshooting security infrastructure, including video surveillance cameras, access control systems, and related computer technologies. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in computer systems, problem-solving skills, and the ability to independently address technical issues that may arise with security equipment. Key Responsibilities: * Assist in the diagnosis and maintenance of campus security systems, including but not limited to surveillance cameras, door access control systems, and alarms. * Troubleshoot technical issues with security equipment and related software, ensuring minimal downtime. * Perform routine inspections and testing of security devices to ensure proper functionality. * Assist the Coordinator of Physical Security Systems in planning and executing system upgrades, repairs, and new installations. * Familiarity with reviewing, updating and following security directives, policies, and guidelines. * Troubleshoot computer-related issues including network connectivity problems, software conflicts, and hardware malfunctions for security systems and department computers. * Maintain accurate documentation of repairs, diagnostics, and system configurations. * Collaborate with campus IT to resolve network or software-related issues affecting security systems and department computers. * Collaborate with contractors, campus IT and facilities staff to oversee security projects. * Actively participate in security related meetings. * Provide hands-on support in emergency situations, including addressing technical failures during critical events or campus incidents. * Stay current with emerging security technology and trends, recommending improvements as needed. Qualifications Education & Experience: * One year experience in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent work experience). * Prior experience with security systems maintenance (e.g., video surveillance, access control) and computer troubleshooting. * Knowledge of networking principles, computer hardware, and operating systems. Skills & Abilities: * Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to independently address technical issues. * Proficiency with Windows OS, network configuration, and security software. * Experience with network troubleshooting (e.g., IP configuration, network cabling). * Ability to work with minimal supervision and take initiative to solve problems. * Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, for documenting issues and working with team members. * Ability to lift heavy objects and utilize ladders, perform equipment installations, and work with hands-on hardware and tools. * Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Preferred: * Experience with video surveillance systems and access control systems. * Knowledge of Genetec security software. * Certification in CompTIA A+, Network+, or similar IT certifications.
