Your role as a Security System Designer includes leveraging your existing design experience to add value to projects while we work together to further develop and advance your capabilities. You will be empowered to take ownership of your project’s success and manage projects and team resources. Performs or delegates tasks as required to execute and fully complete assigned projects including hardware design, system programming, installation coordination, system and network commissioning and project closeout. You will work closely with the Project Leads, Clients and fellow designers/engineers to share ideas and develop innovative solutions.
Job Duties And Responsibilities
Ensures work performed is in compliance with state, local and federal legal requirements and operates on the job with the highest of ethics
Employs practices and develops processes to ensure cost effective engineering while providing consistent delivery and customer satisfaction
Designs, estimates, and configures technically functional security systems, including enterprise security head end systems
Creates drawing packages (technical data packages), sequence of operations, bill of material, network layouts and electrical requirements
Ability to integrate different Security subsystems with each other
Coordinates and creates of necessary drawings and equipment schedules for submittals and installation
Selects, materials for assigned projects
Assists in the loading and commissioning of all system and network-level controllers as required
Assists, if needed, in validation of complete system functionality and troubleshoots problems with subcontractors and other trades to ensure proper operation
Provides field change information to the project team for the creation of as-built drawings and software
Keeps management or customer informed of job progress and issues
Assists, if needed, in performing site-specific training for owner / operator on the total building control solution
Participates in customer meetings with project team
Performs value engineering to provide cost effective results while maintaining customer satisfaction
Adheres to safety standards
Serves as the Security/Low Voltage systems expert in application engineering.
Education And Experience
Certified Electronic Technician with three (3) years’ field experience or seven (7) years’ field experience in the Security industry
Demonstrated knowledge of the Integrated / Electronic Security System (ESS) Alarm industry
Demonstrated experience with pre-sales engineering development of Security Alarm building sub-systems projects
Ability to relate technical knowledge to a non-technical audience
Ability to travel up to 25%
Demonstrated knowledge of a wide variety of Security Alarm building and other building subsystems.
Proficiency with Tier 1 systems like Genetech, Milestone, Avigilon, and/or Softwarehouse C-cure 9000 strongly preferred.
Experience working with AutoCAD preferred.
Minimum high school/trade school graduate, military, or two-year Associate degree
Must maintain a Department of Criminal Justice registration and able to pass related background check, drug screen and credit check.
Physical Requirements
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer;
Must be able to lift 15 lbs. at times;
Ability and willingness to travel to and from various project and client sites in and around the VA and MD area.
