Summary

Company Description

Nyew Research is a creative IP development studio based in Belgium, dedicated to building imaginative, educational, and emotionally resonant experiences for children through storytelling, animation, and science-backed design. We are the creators of Kaijunka & Friends, an upcoming preschool animated series focused on cognitive development, STEM storytelling, and social-emotional learning, currently in pre-production for an international release.

Our visual world blends gentle 3D animation, character-driven storytelling, and psychologically informed design—creating thoughtful, playful worlds that matter.

About the Project

Kaijunka & Friends is an upcoming 3D animated preschool series rooted in cognitive science, emotional development, and gentle storytelling. The series follows a group of Kaiju and a cast of lovable characters—including children and talking animals—on playful, meaningful adventures that teach emotional regulation, early STEM concepts, and cultural awareness.

Role Description

We are seeking a creative, experienced scriptwriter who understands the structure and rhythm of preschool animation. You will work closely with our creator and development team to translate educational themes into warm, engaging stories that are both age-appropriate and emotionally resonant.

Responsibilities

  • Write and refine 5–11 minute episode scripts for preschool audiences (ages 2–6)
  • Collaborate with our story editor and educational advisor to integrate cognitive, SEL, and language learning goals
  • Adapt visual references, treatments, and outlines into polished, voice-driven scripts
  • Develop character-specific dialogue and rhythms for trilingual adaptation (EN/NL/FR)
  • Revise based on feedback from producers, directors, and educational consultants

Requirements

  • Proven experience writing for animation, ideally for preschool or children’s television
  • Deep understanding of early childhood development and age-appropriate storytelling
  • Ability to write gentle pacing, imaginative scenarios, and emotional beats
  • Strong grasp of visual writing and limited dialogue for non-reading audiences
  • Fluent in English (Dutch or French is a plus)
  • Comfortable working remotely with flexible hours and milestone deadlines

Bonus

  • Familiarity with SEL (social-emotional learning) or STEM content
  • Experience in trilingual markets or localization writing
  • Based in Belgium or the EU

What We Offer

  • Creative freedom within a structured, research-backed framework
  • Credit on a meaningful IP designed to uplift and educate young audiences
  • Potential for long-term collaboration as the series evolves
