Duties
- You will lead or participate in development and maintenance of software products. All products developed are in support of weapon system fire control, including internal tools, computationally intensive models, and tactical deployed systems.
- You will participate on an Agile development team, interfacing with Product Owners, Scrum Masters, project lead coordinators, configuration management, and customers to clarify tasking, identify problems, suggest changes, and develop solutions.
- You will participate in and present at Daily Standup Meetings, Sprint Planning and Refinement Meetings, and Sprint Reviews as well as sponsor level working groups, depending on tasking.
- You will analyze information to determine, recommend, and plan the development of a new application or modification of an existing application.
- You will lead or participate in design and architecture activities for modernization of software products and establishment of new product lines.
- You will apply coding and testing standards, apply security testing tools including "fuzzing" static-analysis code scanning tools, and conduct code reviews.
- You will address security implications in the software throughout the development cycle.
- You will keep informed regarding emerging techniques and capabilities applicable to the software development efforts.
- You will, at the full performance level, provide insight and mentoring through peer reviews and other software development activities.

- FOR THE ND-03: This position is designated as a Cyber IT/Cybersecurity Workforce position. You must obtain and maintain the credentials as described in SECNAV M-5239.2 for framework role 621, level Basic within 12 months of appointment.
- FOR THE ND-04: This position is designated as a Cyber IT/Cybersecurity Workforce position. You must obtain and maintain the credentials as described in SECNAV M-5239.2 for framework role 621, level Intermediate within 12 months of appointment.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
Qualifications
FOR THE ND-03: Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the ND-02 (GS-05/08 equivalent) pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector as a professional scientist conducting software development or testing activities.
FOR THE ND-04: Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the ND-03 (GS-09/11 equivalent) pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector as a professional scientist analyzing or implementing the design, development, test & evaluation, integration, or in-service sustainment of software for system engineering projects.

Successful completion of a master's or equivalent graduate degree.
or
Successful completion of two full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree.
or
Successful completion of an LL.B. or J.D. that is related to the position being filled.
or
A combination of specialized experience and graduate education as described above that equates to one year of experience.
