At Novartis, our mission is to discover new ways to improve and extend people’s lives. Help us reach more patients by joining the Oncology Drug Discovery group, an early-stage drug discovery team focused on understanding and exploiting the molecular mechanisms of novel cancer targets for the discovery, characterization and optimization of Oncology therapeutics. We are seeking a highly motivated, collaborative and results-driven scientist to join our team in a hands-on role to discover the next generation of innovative cancer treatments.

Your Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Lab-based associate will work on a cross disciplinary team and with external collaborators to build a strong collection of novel clinically relevant cancer cell models from patient-derived xenografts to allow for expansion of drug discovery efforts across a range of modalities.
  • Lead and efficiently drive the in vitro model development workflow
  • Design, optimize and troubleshoot methods to allow for robust growth, characterization and profiling of novel cellular models.
  • Document, analyze, and interpret experiments, and present results within a multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Assist in data assembly for communication and distribution across global department.


What You Will Bring To The Role:

  • This 18-month position will be located at the Cambridge, MA site and will not have the ability to be located remotely. This position will not require travel.
  • BA/BS or MS in Molecular/Cell biology, Genetics, or a related field with 3+(BA/BS) or 1+ (MS) year(s) of biology benchwork experience
  • Required: Exceptional sterile technique with direct experience with mammalian cell culture. Experience with a wide range of basic molecular biology techniques (e.g. nucleic acid extraction, qPCR, plasmid assembly, western blotting etc.).
  • Plus: Experience with 3D organoid culturing methods, cellular assay development and execution
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze, interpret, and present data in a clear manner and use data to generate new hypotheses.
  • Maintain high standards for data quality and reproducibility, supported by timely documentation of experiments in lab notebook
  • Highly self-motivated, collaborative team worker with exceptional organizational skills and curiosity to expand and diversify skillsets


Location: Cambridge, MA (Onsite)

Pay Rate: $46.24 - $55.5/hour based on experience and qualifications (W2 Only)

Contract: 18 months
