TITLE: School Psychologist
REPORTS TO: Director of Special Services and Building Principal
LOCATION
THES (3-5), 129 Northfield Rd., Lunenburg, MA 01462
DUTIES
School Psychologist sought with background in conducting Psycho-Educational Assessment, Psycho-Emotional Assessment and Risk Assessments. Strong behavioral intervention skills required.
Teamchair responsibilities for Re-evaluations and Initial meetings (and Annual meetings as needed - typically run by liaisons).
Teamchair responsibilities do NOT include scheduling meetings or writing IEPs - that is done by Process Coordinators/Liaisons.

JOB DESCRIPTION
1. Collect and interpret student and classroom data
2. Assess student emotional and behavioral needs
3.Conduct individual psychological/academic assessments
4.Interpret/communicate to school personnel and parents formal evaluative findings and recommendations
5.Monitor student progress
6.Make referrals and help coordinate services
7. Provide crisis intervention and conflict resolution services when requested by school personnel.
8.Conduct risk-assessments as needed and serve as a member of crisis management/problem-solving teams and special education evaluation teams
9. Consult with administrators, teachers and relative agencies to improve the educational and social environment of the student.
10. Safeguard students' rights to privacy against disclosure of information in the students' case histories and disclosures of confidence during counseling, within the framework of applicable laws and district policies
11.Ensure equal educational opportunity to all individuals per law, regulation, and district policy.
12.Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Licensure issued by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (School Psychologist, All Levels)
2. Knowledge/Understanding of the Standards of Professional Practice and Principles for Professional Ethics
3.Knowledge/Understanding of school law as it relates to the Individuals with Disabilities Act (IDEA); No Child Left Behind (NCLB) Act; Family Education Rights Protection Act (FERPA); Section 504 of Federal anti-discrimination legislation; and Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)
4.Knowledge /Ability/Skills to work within various stages of child development
5.Knowledge/Ability/Skills to identify/collect appropriate psychological data
6.Knowledge/Ability/Skills to interpret/assess psychological information and communicate it to parents and school personnel in a format that is concise and comprehensible
7.Knowledge of resilience and risk factors
8.Experience in conducting risk-assessments
9.Knowledge of prevention/intervention strategies pertaining to academic/learning, mental health, and behavior
10.Knowledge/Ability/Skills to monitor student/program progress
11.Experience supporting students with special needs
12.Ability/Skills to collaborate with all stakeholders.
13.Knowledge/Ability/Skill in managing crisis preparedness, response, and recovery
REQUIREMENTS
Prior experience working as a School Psychologist preferred.
Must demonstrate excellent cooperative, communication and written skills.
EVALUATION:
The School Psychologist will be evaluated in full accordance of the contract between the Lunenburg Teachers' Association and the Lunenburg Public Schools.
SALARY/COMPENSATION:
The School Psychologist will be paid in accordance with the agreement between the Lunenburg Teachers' Association and the Lunenburg School Committee.
