We are currently seeking a Saw Operator for our Sloan Metal Solutions (SMS) fabrication and welding shop. (SMS) serves the security industry and various contractors by providing custom metal design, fabrication, and installation of aluminum, stainless and structural steel projects. With our full-service fabrication shop we are able to deliver structural steel projects up to four stories, as well as full suite of misc. metal projects. Join our fabrication team today! General Summary: Seeking a qualified saw operator to perform skilled work in the following areas including, but not limited to: Material handling, identification and organization Setup, operation and maintenance of saws and other cutting equipment Operation of plasma cutter (handheld and CNC) and oxy-fuel torch Other prefabrication processes such as drilling, punching, shearing and general forming. Read and interpret blueprints and cut lists Limited fabrication assistance with layout and fit-up Shipping and receiving Material and product pickup and delivery Preferred Skills: Experience working with mild steel, stainless steel and aluminum Ability to maintain and repair equipment such as changing consumables, clean and lubricate, etc. Understanding of cutting process (feeds and speeds, lubricity, etc.) Ability to drive trucks and tow trailers Prior forklift and overhead crane experience Minimum Requirements: High School diploma or GED Must be 18 years or older Fluent in English Reliable mode of transportation Ability to pass background check and drug screening Accuracy and attention to detail Willingness to learn and take on additional responsibility Ability to work individually or as a team Capable of multitasking and seamlessly switching between projects Ability to work overtime when necessary Physical Requirements/Working Conditions: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
