Overview

The SAP Basis Administrator plays a pivotal role in managing and maintaining SAP systems within the organization. This position is critical as it ensures that all SAP applications and underlying database, network, and server components run smoothly and efficiently. The administrator is responsible for installing, configuring, and monitoring SAP systems as well as implementing necessary updates and patches to optimize performance and security. In addition, the SAP Basis Administrator collaborates with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot issues and optimize system efficiency. With the rapid evolution of technology and increasing reliance on digital processes, the SAP Basis Administrator must stay abreast of advancements in cloud technologies and SAP innovations. This role is essential for ensuring that business operations run seamlessly, minimizing downtime, and providing excellent support to users across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and maintain all SAP systems including ERP, BW, and other relevant modules.
• Monitor performance metrics and optimize system operations for maximum efficiency.
• Troubleshoot and resolve system issues relating to SAP environments.
• Perform client administration, including user creation and role assignment.
• Implement and maintain backup and recovery plans for SAP systems.
• Conduct system upgrades and patches as necessary to ensure optimal performance.
• Manage the transport management system (TMS) for efficient change control.
• Configure and manage SAP’s printing solutions.
• Collaborate with functional teams to resolve cross-system issues.
• Ensure security standards are upheld within all SAP environments.
• Document system configurations, routines, and processes for future reference.
• Provide ongoing support and training to other IT staff and users.
• Participate in disaster recovery planning and testing.
• Stay updated with SAP advancements and recommend changes where necessary.
• Assist in project planning and implementation for new SAP applications.
  
  

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience as an SAP Basis Administrator or similar role.
• Proficient in SAP installation and configuration on various platforms.
• Strong understanding of database management systems like Oracle or SQL Server.
• Experience with performance tuning of SAP environments.
• Solid skills in troubleshooting and problem-solving within SAP systems.
• Familiarity with transport routes and system landscapes.
• Knowledge of SAP security and user management practices.
• Experience in managing system backups and recovery processes.
• Understanding of network infrastructure and components related to SAP systems.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Excellent communication and documentation skills.
• Certifications related to SAP Basis or cloud technologies are a plus.
• Experience with cloud-based SAP services (SAP HANA, S/4HANA) is an advantage.
• Availability to be on-call for critical system incidents.
