Summary

Sanico Software is looking for a Software Engineer Intern (Web Development)

Sanico Software is looking for a Software Engineer Intern (Web Development) to join our remote team. This is an exciting opportunity to work within our software dev team and learn the ropes with a dedicated mentor.

We are looking for a young, motivated, and willing learner. Someone looking for a challenge, not a slacker. A team player, not a lone wolf. A coder, not a prompter.

We want someone that is enthusiastic to join the industry and bring their problem solving skills to Sanico Software. This opportunity may potentially lead to joining the Sanico Software team upon completion of the internship.

We are accepting 3rd year students from either UniSA, Flinders University, or Curtin University. This is an unpaid internship that will count towards your course work, depending upon your eligibility. Please check with the University before applying.

Tasks

About the Internship

A majority of companies usually hire someone specific to frontend, backend, or another specific role. With us, we search for Software Engineers, developers able and willing to work across a wide range of software tasks. This ranges from frontend, backend, devops, documentation, software testing, and more. At Sanico we value a generalist, a person not hesitant to be across a variety of software tasks.

Every software dev at Sanico begins with the frontend, which is why this internship will consist of building web components. From the smallest most basic element such as a button, to a complex component built with frameworks that utilise HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. An intern will compose up to 50 web components for real world applications. This project will take your UI/UX skills to another level and by the end of it you will be confident in frontend development.

We expect all team members to have excellent written communication skills in English. This is because the majority of our communication is conducted through our project management software called Basecamp. You must also be prepared for video-call meetings when requested from the team (don’t wear your pyjamas all day).

At Sanico you must have fundamental and native software skills. We are not prompt engineers, we are Software Engineers that write code by hand. We utilise generative AI to automate laborious tasks, for research, and finding documentation pages but not to build applications.

Remote Only Company

At Sanico our entire team works remotely. For this internship you will work remotely and are required to be within the Australian time zones AWST, ACST, or AEST. While all team members are currently based in Australia, we have clients globally. Software is global in nature and so is our company.

Requirements

About Sanico Software

Founded by Sav and Dom Tripodi in Adelaide, Australia, we have been producing software for over 6 years. We started with a humble premise: to build the best software for companies and individuals across the globe. We build websites, web applications, software apps, software integrations, and provide a range of other professional services such as software consulting and auditing. We focus on a high quality of service in all of our dealings, hence why we found success very early on in our business.

We are not your typical company that conducts an unnecessary amount of meetings per week, expects you to work late nights and weekends, or bogs you down with ridiculous processes. We communicate through our project management system, Basecamp, and rely heavily on written communication. There will be no manager breathing down your neck and calling you every hour to “check in”. We believe in hiring managers of one, people who show initiative, self-police, and flourish naturally in their own role. Specifically for the internship, a dedicated mentor will help guide and train you, you will not be left in a dark corner alone.

Applying for the Internship

Submit an application through our portal to express your interest in the advertised position. Introduce yourself, explain why the position is right for you, and discuss what value you would bring to Sanico Software.

Write in depth and make it personal. Don’t write us an essay, 800ish words is more than enough. Link us to any GitHub repos with University projects you’ve worked on, open source contributions, or a piece of code you are proud of.

Please attach your cover letter, resume, and academic transcript (the unofficial or official).

Applications close 22nd May 2025 at 11:59PM ACST. Applications will be reviewed regardless of the time they were submitted.

Do not email us directly about the role, we accept applications only through our portal.

After the Application Process

When the deadline hits it will take us approximately 1-2 weeks to review the applicants.

For successful applicants we will conduct interviews remotely via Google Meet. You will interview with either the business owners or another one of your future team members.

We will go through your professional experience, discuss the role, and get to know each other. Within one month of the interviews we will make a formal offer to a successful candidate subject to their eligibility to perform an internship with us.

Please note, because of the high number of requests we do not offer feedback on applications.

Thank you for taking the time to go through the application process, we look forward to receiving your request.
