Summary

Key Responsibilities


  • Assist the branch sales team by tracking leads, maintaining relationships with existing clients, and supporting the development of project estimates (labor, freight, equipment, materials).
  • Prepare quotes using specialized estimating software and product manuals, with input from both sales and construction managers.
  • Gain a solid understanding of the company’s contracting and insurance procedures and assist in facilitating communication between clients and internal teams during contract discussions.
  • Learn the components of the branch's labor cost structure, including union wages and benefits, payroll taxes, insurance (general liability and workers' compensation), tools, consumables, PPE, and expenses.
  • Understand the branch’s on-site construction methods, including scaffold system applications, safe and efficient use of equipment (forklifts, boom lifts, cranes, etc.), productivity expectations, scheduling, and job site logistics.
  • Become familiar with the branch’s safety standards, including the use of protective gear, job site planning, safety inspections, hazard assessments, and daily safety protocols.
  • Understand how to manage and identify change orders or additional work outside of base contracts.
  • Gain working knowledge of warehouse operations, shipping/receiving procedures, and inventory management systems.
  • Use this combination of skills and knowledge to help identify business opportunities, support bidding efforts, and contribute to the safe and successful execution of projects.


Qualifications


  • Strong communication skills, problem solver, highly organized, detail-oriented
  • A degree in a technical field is preferred but not required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel—particularly experience with formulas—is highly valued.
  • Ideal for a junior military or naval officer transitioning to civilian life with leadership and operational experience.
  • Hands-on outdoor experience in scouting, emergency services, farming, forestry, construction, or competitive athletics is a plus.
  • Must be open to travel approximately 25% of the time.
