We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Sales and Business Development Manager to join our team. This individual will play a pivotal role in driving sales and building strong customer relationships.
As a Sales and Business Development Manager, you will be responsible for leveraging your product and technical expertise to engage with customers, lead the sales process, and contribute to the overall growth and success of the company. You will be instrumental in identifying customer needs, formulating sales strategies, and advocating for our solutions, while also supporting and managing independent representatives to ensure alignment with company goals.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as AWC’s direct sales resource within the designated territory. This includes proactively calling on and influencing engineers, end-users, and contractors, while maintaining open, collaborative, and mutually beneficial relationships with third-party representatives. Proactively manage manufacturers' representatives to ensure key discovery and qualification milestones are met, protecting company resources and maximizing opportunity success rates. Qualify leads, initiate go/no-go decisions, coordinate projects, and play an active role in the sales team.
- Perform detailed project discovery to extract critical information and accurately scope the effort needed for each project gate stage.
- Participate in the conceptualization of project sales strategies.
- Deliver conceptual and budgetary proposals based on previous AWC proposal work.
- Process real leads and opportunities generated from trade shows.
- Organize and actively participate in key project meetings by contributing to discussions and strategy development.
- Understand the strengths and weaknesses of internal team members and collaborate effectively within groups to achieve common objectives.
- Begin formulating AWC proposal strategies for projects.
- Demonstrate advanced understanding of water/wastewater industry and AWC's offerings.
- Take an advanced role in the sales process, including leading and coordinating efforts.
- Establish multiple relationships with customers and develop a professional network.
- Conduct detailed discovery, formulate strategies, and take the lead in the sales process.
- Possess intermediate knowledge of water/wastewater chemistry and engineered equipment.
- Understand how to sell into different project delivery models.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
- 5-10 years of experience in technical sales and business development in the water and wastewater industry.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proven ability to lead and coordinate complex sales processes.
- Proficiency in CRM systems and project management.
- In-depth knowledge of water/wastewater chemistry and engineered equipment.
- Demonstrated ability to work with various project delivery models.
- Strong work ethic, self-motivation, and pride in delivering high quality results
- Excellent communication (verbal & written), interpersonal, and customer service skills
- Strong planning and organizational skills, including attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and within a team
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
