Description: What you'll be doing JOB SUMMARY: The Safety Intern will support the Sabey Safety team. The Safety Intern will assist the Safety team in development, implementation, and maintenance of the company's safety policies and procedures. This position will work closely with the Safety Manager(s) and Director to promote a culture of safety throughout the organization by providing technical expertise, ensuring regulatory compliance, and assisting with safety training and audits. The Safety Intern will serve as a resource to assist all stakeholders, offering support and guidance on limited matters related to environment, health and safety. PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES * Learn and assist in conducting site safety walks * Document and memorialize site safety inspections * Participate in onsite safety meetings, support meetings, construction team meetings, and all other meetings as assigned by the Safety Manager(s) and/or Director * Assist in construction site safety orientations * Assist in training development and onsite training as needed * Review of Daily PTP's from Subcontractors onsite * Assist in reviewing site permits (Confined Space, Burn Permits, Etc.) * Assist in conducting rick assessments to identify potential hazards and recommend appropriate controls * Maintain records of safety inspections, accident investigations, and other compliance documentation, including the OSHA 300 log * Assist with the investigation of workplace incidents to determine root causes and recommend preventive measures * Provide guidance to employees and management on best practices for maintaining a safe work environment * Participate in the organization's Safety Committee and contribute to the ongoing improvement of safety culture * Assist with the preparation of safety reports and provide updates to the Safety Manager and/or Director on the status of safety initiatives * Perform any other related duties as required or assigned. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS * Ability to remain stationary for extended periods of time * Ability to work independently with minimal instruction * Ability to work on a construction jobsite and/or outdoors MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS * High School Diploma or GED Required * Basic knowledge of health, safety, and environmental management practices and interpretation of OHSA * Some experience/education in Information Technology (I.T.) preferred MINIMUM COMPETENCIES * Proficiency with Microsoft Suite - Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, etc. * Ability to become proficient in other software * Demonstrated desire to continuously learn * Must be detail oriented with the ability to maintain a strong focus on attention to detail * Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills * Ability to comprehend, interpret, and closely follow instructions Salary range $38,202-$53,484 DOE.
