The PSD is in downtown Sacramento in the East End Complex within a mile of the Golden 1 Center, SAFE Credit Union Performing Arts Center, and the State Capitol. Additionally, there are a half dozen coffee shops and multiple Michelin recognized restaurants within a 10-minute walk (less if you utilize CDPH's Bikeshare Program).
Job Description And Duties
This position supports the California Department of Public Health’s (CDPH) mission and strategic plan by performing a wide variety of duties associated with achieving the goals of the CDPH Safety and Security program developed to provide a safe work environment and promote emergency preparedness, injury prevention, and workplace security for all employees.
The Associate Governmental Program Analyst (AGPA) will lead administrative duties, conduct program evaluation, and analyze planning and policies that support our divisions comprehensive environmental and occupational safety and security program and disaster prevention program.
The AGPA works under the direction of the Staff Services Manager II, Section Chief of the Statewide Infrastructure Support Services.
The Staff Services Analyst (SSA) classification is distinguished from the Associate Governmental Program Analyst classification by the scope of responsibility, complexity of work performed, independence of action, decision-making, and level of supervision received. This classification consists of three alternate ranges and as the SSA advances within the classification ranges, their responsibilities are expected to show broader knowledge of the work environment, and organizational and/or departmental requirements while the scope of work increases.
The SSA works under the supervision of the Staff Services Manager II, Section Chief of the Statewide Infrastructure Support Services.
This position is a 12 month Limited Term position with the possibility of extension or becoming permanent.

Eligibility Information
If you are new to California State Service, you must take and pass the examination for this classification to be eligible for hire. Current state employees without transfer or list eligibility must also complete and pass the examination for this classification to qualify for this position.

Telework Information
This position may be eligible for telework up to three (3) days per week and is required to report in-person to the designated headquarters office location a minimum of two (2) days per week. The amount of telework permitted is at the discretion of the Department and is subject to change, consistent with CDPH’s Telework Program. All employees who telework are required to be California residents in accordance with Government Code 14200. Candidates who reside outside of the state of California may be interviewed; however, the selected candidate must have a primary residency in the state of California prior to appointment (and continue to maintain California residency) as a condition of employment. Failure to meet this requirement may result in the job offer being rescinded.
Business travel may be required, and reimbursement considers an employee’s designated headquarters office subject to regulations and bargaining unit contract provisions. All commute expenses to the designated headquarters office will be the responsibility of the selected candidate.
