The programmer/analyst is responsible for analyzing business processes and implementing code following guidance from stake holders. Review and evaluate existing code and take corrective action where needed to ensure correct application of business logic. The programmer/analyst works closely with department leaders and designates to define and improve services provided by data processing.
Duties/Responsibilities
Analysis and programming for projects assigned
Provide programming services (emergencies, questions, documentation, meetings)
Participate in business/service improvement activities
Timeliness and accuracy in providing programming and analysis of projects.
Create libraries of routines and utilities
Write programs using RPG III, RPG IV and/or RPGILE syntax and code to create objects, reports, forms, menus, dialogue boxes, macros, procedures, and other items for use with a database system
Debug programs and troubleshoot problems with existing systems
Retest programs after making changes
Keep up with changing programming trends in the field of RPG and modernization
Maintain database documentation and integrity
Maintain and improve company EDI systems
Resolve daily issues in IBMi system (code)
Work with IBMi System Administrator to aid in systems operations
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Required Skills/Abilities:
Highly skilled in RPG III and RPG IV
Highly skilled in use of SQL
Experienced in development and maintenance of EDI systems
Experienced in batch processing and conversion to interactive processing
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
Excellent attention to detail
Knowledge of programming practices and techniques, especially in designing, coding, testing and debugging applications, including the ability to write code that is efficient, easy to read and maintainable
Proven understanding of relational database concepts and principles
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team under tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
Education And Experience
Minimum of AAS degree in computer science or equivalent experience
Minimum of eight years of RPG and related programming experience required
Proficient in EDI systems programming and maintenance desired
Physical Requirements
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
