What You Will Do

We are seeking a FPGA Solutions Architect (Robotics) to join our team at Altera. As a critical member of our Industrial Automation team, you will report directly to the GM of the Industrial & Transportation business and be responsible for enabling the adoption of Altera’s FPGA products in Customer’s robotics designs. Your goal is to showcase Altera’s solutions – FPGA Silicon, software, IP and tools - for current and emerging applications in the Industrial Robotics segment. Through intense field engagements, industry experience and unconventional thinking, you will lead the next wave of growth for Altera’s critical Industrial business. Responsibilities

  • Serve as the main point of technical contact between the Business Unit and the Customer to prosecute Design Wins
  • Understand Customer requirements and outline system architectural solutions around Altera FPGA products and possibly external IP/components.
  • Identify and drive product-specific technology initiatives to add value to Altera FPGAs in the Robotics market.
  • Be Altera’s Robotic Voice in the FPGA industry and champion thought leadership via industry outreach, publications and speaking engagements.
  • Work with internal or 3rd parties to develop Vertical Market Platform Solutions combining Altera Silicon, IP, Tools and Software to solve Industrial Use Cases (This includes creating proof-of-concept of these solutions.)
  • Feed back field knowledge to Engineering groups to guide next generation product development.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor within the US market. Actual salary may vary based on a number of factors including job location, job-related knowledge, skills, experiences, trainings, etc. We also offer incentive opportunities that reward employees based on individual and company performance.

Minimum Qualifications

Your pedigree would typically be a Bachelor's Degree in EE or CS (or related fields) with a minimum of 10+ years of total work experience and experience in one or more of the following:

  • Hardware Systems Engineering experience at a Robotics supplier, preferably working with FPGA platforms. (or)
  • Solutions experience at an FPGA supplier, preferably focused on Industrial Automation.
  • Market trends of the robotic industries and the value proposition of the FPGAs in robotic applications.
  • Expert in Robotics systems design and/or machine vision from an electronic systems and platform perspective.
  • You possess a keen understanding of the workloads, algorithms and applications that industrial FPGA-based control systems are designed to host.
  • You have that "feel" for what fits within a given compute platform from a capacity, performance, power, IO or cost perspective.
  • You have delivered multiple systems engineering specifications for control platforms for multi-axis robot arms, AMR drive systems or Sensor fusion platforms for limited ODD deployments.
  • Knowledge or skills related to AI inferencing applications of interest to industrial manufacturing, AMR or similar application segment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Altera FPGA products and tools.
  • ROS, OpenCV, machine vision algorithms.
  • Recognition within the robotics community – technical or business.
  • Experience working with Customers worldwide.
