Position: We are currently seeking a motivated team player to fulfill the role of Roadway Design Engineer in our Roswell, Georgia office. This position is critical to our rapidly growing transportation team whose focus is highway mode serving federal, state, and local DOTs. Axis has several contracts in place and a strong project portfolio which presents opportunities for rapid expansion of this practice. We are looking for self-starter candidates with the blend of engineering, supervisory, and analytical acumen required for this exciting marketplace. Key Responsibilities: Lead design efforts throughout all phases of design and provides oversight and direction to produce project plans and deliverables Perform engineering design tasks for roadway projects from concept to final design Identify schedule and cost variances Design roadway projects including coordination with traffic, bridge design, transportation, planning, and environmental Develop the preparation of engineering reports, plans and specifications for major and minor projects Lead the preparation and review preliminary and final plans and technical specifications, contract documents and estimates, and make recommendations for additions, deletions and substitutions when modifications are necessary Coordinate and observe the design and ongoing progress of a project, including the coordination of the project with City, State and County officials Knowledge of GDOT systems, policies, and procedures Skills/Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in civil engineering EIT or EI License. Experience with InRoads or OpenRoads Previous experience working with the Georgia Department of Transportation is a plus 3+ years of experience in roadway design Axis provides a challenging and empowered environment that encourages employee growth and provides flexibility for your active life outside of work.
