Job Summary: The Risk Coordinator supports enterprise-level risk management efforts under the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) Defense Programs, focused on nuclear weapons design, development, and production modernization. This role is responsible for assisting in the implementation, maintenance, and integration of risk management processes across multiple projects, ensuring alignment with NNSA-specific guidance. Working alongside project managers, control account managers (CAMs), schedulers, and analysts, the Risk Coordinator helps drive proactive risk identification, quantification, and mitigation planning to support mission success. This is a full-time, on-site position within a secure environment supporting the U.S. nuclear deterrent. Key Responsibilities: Risk Process Implementation & Maintenance: Support the execution and continuous improvement of project and program risk management plans in compliance with DOE/NNSA directives. Facilitate the capture and maintenance of project risk registers in collaboration with Control Account Managers (CAMs) and technical leads. Ensure consistency in risk identification, categorization (threats/opportunities), scoring, and mitigation strategies across all project areas. Quantitative & Qualitative Risk Analysis: Assist in conducting qualitative risk assessments to evaluate likelihood, consequence, and risk exposure. Support quantitative risk analysis (QRA) using tools such Deltek Acumen Risk to assess schedule and cost uncertainty. Help integrate cost and schedule risk into project forecasts, estimates at completion (EAC), and contingency planning. Risk Reporting & Communication: Prepare and distribute regular risk reports, dashboards, and heat maps to project leadership and federal stakeholders. Support preparation of briefings for internal reviews, and DOE/NNSA oversight bodies. Track risk mitigation actions and monitor implementation progress in collaboration with project teams. Cross-Disciplinary Coordination: Work closely with Project Controls, Scheduling, Cost Estimating, and Systems Engineering teams to ensure risks are integrated into baseline development and program execution planning. Coordinate with risk owners across NNSA sites, national laboratories, and federal offices to ensure enterprise-level risk visibility and alignment. Help link risk data to scope, WBS elements, and schedule activities to maintain traceability and impact analysis. Compliance & Governance: Maintain documentation of risk decisions, assumptions, and justifications to support transparency and compliance with DOE/NNSA review standards. Support risk review boards, peer reviews, and formal programmatic reviews (e.g., Independent Project Reviews [IPRs], External Independent Reviews [EIRs]). Assist in enforcing risk management procedures and supporting internal audits and assessments. Security Clearance & Work Location Requirements: U.S. Citizenship is required. Must have an active DOE Q clearance, active DoD Top Secret (TS) clearance, or the ability to obtain a DOE Q clearance. This is a full-time, on-site position; remote work is not permitted due to program sensitivity and clearance requirements. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Project Management, Risk Management, or a related field. 3+ years of experience in project risk management, preferably supporting DOE, NNSA, or federal capital projects. Familiarity with risk analysis software such as Deltek Acumen Risk or equivalent tools. Knowledge of DOE O 413.3B project management requirements and NNSA-specific risk management expectations. Strong communication, organizational, and analytical skills with the ability to work in highly collaborative environments. Preferred Qualifications: Experience supporting NNSA nuclear weapons programs, or associated infrastructure modernization projects. Understanding of the nuclear weapons lifecycle and risk drivers related to design, development, qualification, and production. Experience working with integrated project controls teams (schedule, cost, EVMS). Certifications such as PMI-RMP, AACE Decision & Risk Management Professional, or equivalent. Proficiency with integrated risk/cost/schedule management in Primavera P6 and Deltek environments.
