About the Role

The Reservoir Engineering Technician will be an integral member of the Reservoir Engineering team. This person will work in collaboration with the Senior Reservoir Engineering Technician, asset management engineers, A&D engineers and management. This individual will generate deliverables for revenue accruals, quarterly reserves and acquisition evaluations. This position will be heavily tied to the continued maintenance of the company’s existing assets as well as continued company growth through acquisition evaluations. While primarily working with the engineering teams, they will also work with Land, GIS, Geology, Accounting, and Finance teams on a regular basis.


The Reservoir Engineering Technician will report to the Director of Engineering.


Job Location: In office located in Denver, CO or Houston, TX

Schedule: Hybrid work schedule with Monday - Thursday in the office and Fridays work from home.


Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain complex queries, databases and economic evaluations and forecasts in ComboCurve, Databricks, and Excel
  • Assist engineers with economic evaluations, reserves estimation, and field studies
  • Maintain and update reserves database for quarterly and year-end updates
  • Build, maintain, and run economic models for project evaluation and value assessments
  • Regularly cross-reference multiple systems for data integrity and consistency
  • Maintain and conduct quality control, organization, and analysis of production, technical, and economic data from both public sources and internal databases
  • Gather, organize, and maintain data in Microsoft Excel, Spotfire, and Databricks
  • Work with and support engineering staff on special projects and process optimization


Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of direct industry experience as an Engineering Technician
  • Associate’s degree or other technical training required, Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • Experience with Excel, ComboCurve, Spotfire, Databricks, and IHS
  • Team player with the ability to handle simultaneous projects and changing priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrated ability to extract, manipulate and analyze extensive amounts of data and information quickly and accurately
  • Strong desire to adapt and improve processes with new methods and technologies
  • Organized, motivated, self-starter with strong analytical skills
  • Thorough understanding of oil and gas industry terminology
  • High attention to detail


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with Land, Geology, and Accounting teams specific to oil and gas upstream industry
  • Experience with ARIES, Novi, SSMS, Python, or JMP
  • Experience working with team members in different offices/remote work
  • Previous experience with quarterly and year-end reserves processes


Compensation and Benefits

  • Status: Full-time, exempt
  • Base Pay Range: $80,000 –$110,000 depending on qualifications and experience

Job is performed in a typical office environment, but is subject to time pressures and constraints, and is often dependent on input from others. Occasionally, work may be performed from home, before or after normal work hours or on weekends. Periodic travel as business requires.
