DESCRIPTION The HWSPH has focal areas of Biostatistics and Bioinformatics, Climate & Environmental Health, Community Health Services and Preventive Medicine, Epidemiology, Health Equity and Justice, Global Health, Health Behavior, Health Policy, Public Mental Health, and Technology & Precision Health and offers six degree programs: BS in Public Health, MPH, MS and PhD in Biostatistics, PhD in Public Health, and a Joint doctoral program with SDSU. The School's new PhD program in Public Health will have its first concentration in Health Services Research and Implementation Science. Further, the School has a Preventive Medicine Residency program. The School has extensive collaborations with the School of Medicine, Moores Cancer Center, Rady School of Management, Jacobs School of Engineering, Scripps Institution of Oceanography, Skaggs School of Pharmacy, and with other partners across the UC San Diego campus. Partnerships with the community and health agencies are fundamental to the School. The School is comprised of more than 125 primary faculty and academics, 25 secondary faculty, and 200 staff members and provides instruction and mentorship to 750 BSPH majors and 225 postgraduate students, and the School's faculty and academics hold ~$255M total awarded grants and contracts. Under the supervision, the Research Statistical and Data Analyst will perform complex statistical computations for investigators; consult regarding analytical approaches for studies of moderate statistical complexity and scope; provide guidance on statistical issues of moderate complexity; and contribute to manuscript development for studies requiring moderately complex statistical methods. The Research Statistical and Data Analyst will also develop new statistical models and R codes for modeling high-dimensional data. Works on research data reporting assignments that are of moderate diversity in scope. Exercises judgment within generally defined practices and policies in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS * Six (6) years of related experience, education/training, OR a Bachelor's degree in related area plus two (2) years of related experience/training. * Working knowledge of research function. * Working skills in statistical analysis, systems programming, database design and data security measures. Demonstrated working experience with statistical methods and models incorporating a broad range of variable types and traditional and contemporary statistical approaches. * Demonstrated knowledge and experience of statistical analysis packages, including R. * Demonstrated experience doing moderately complex statistical programming. * Working skills in analysis and consultation. * Skills to communicate complex information in a clear and concise manner both verbally and in writing. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with a diverse group of people from faculty investigators to support staff throughout the institution. * Demonstrated knowledge of network-based PC's. * Demonstrated knowledge of Word, Excel, Power Point, and relational database concepts. * Demonstrated skill in prioritizing multiple responsibilities and tasks. Excellent organization skills. * Excellent time management skills. * Demonstrated experience in designing, implementing, maintaining, and using large and complex databases. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS * Master's degree in statistics or biostatistics. * At least five (5) years of experience with R and RCPP within R. At least four (4) years of experience of fitting statistical models using R, developing R codes for Monte Carlo simulations, using R functions for data checking and management. SPECIAL CONDITIONS * Employment is subject to a criminal background check. Pay Transparency Act Annual Full Pay Range: $69,500 - $123,500 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%) Hourly Equivalent: $33.29 - $59.15 Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position.
