The University of Virginia, Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, School of Engineering and Applied Sciences, is seeking applicants for a Research Scientist position. The primary responsibilities for this position include research, scholarship, and service to the department, university, and professional community. The compensation will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.

The successful candidate is expected to establish an innovative research program that builds upon existing strengths at UVA in signal processing, machine learning, and education. This includes engaging collaboratively with faculty and scientists at UVA and beyond, as well as generating research proposals, promoting scholarship, engaging in service, and mentoring students to support a growing program. The successful candidate is also expected to engage in and further ongoing projects with the School of Education and Human Development at UVA.
Qualifications::
* A Master's or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or Computer Science, is required by the start date. A PhD is preferred.
* A strong record of an innovative research program in this area and a track record of participation in funded research. Candidates should demonstrate an aptitude and commitment to mentoring at the graduate level.
* A minimum of four years of experience in computer vision, image processing, and machine learning. Experience must include the following:
* Minimum of two years of demonstrated experience with the development and testing of machine learning models for image analysis and computer vision.
* The candidate should have expertise in artificial intelligence, including the design, testing, and analysis of machine learning architectures.
* Experience with image processing, image analysis, and computer vision is desired.
