About the Role >>> Research Biology Intern
As the Research Biology Intern reporting to the Senior Scientist, Research Biology, you will work in a highly collaborative environment and gain an in-depth understanding of the drug development process. This position offers hands-on experience in a variety of cell and molecular biology procedures and exposure to the planning, execution, and analysis of experiments under senior scientists' mentorship. This position will support biology team operations by performing cellular assays, optimizing assay protocols, and implementing quantitative molecular assays.
This position is an 8-week paid summer internship $22/hour working 40 hours a week onsite at our downtown San Francisco facility.
Your work will primarily encompass:
* Conducting laboratory experiments in consultation with Biology team members
* Maintenance of cell culture systems
* Development and optimization of cellular and molecular biology assays
* Maintenance of detailed electronic laboratory notebooks (ELN) and recording of results in a timely manner
* Presentation of findings internally to the biology team
* Compliance with all safety requirements
* Performance of general lab duties as assigned

Qualifications
* Currently a third or fourth year student enrolled in a 4-year undergraduate program or 2024 graduate, required
* Currently majoring in and/or taking Biology classes or closely related field of study, required
* Taken undergraduate-level Biology; 2 semesters prior to the start of the internship, required
* Previous hands-on laboratory experience in Biology, strongly preferred
* Sterile mammalian cell culture experience, preferred
* Proficiency with Microsoft Office or similar software system, required
* Experience with fluorescence microscopy and image analysis is a plus
