Responsibilities: Receive and respond to orders and inquiries from physicians, facilities, and patients. Work to obtain all required medical documentation to ensure coverage of equipment through insurance. Input all patient information accurately and efficiently. Communicate with insurance companies to verify eligibility and request prior authorization. Inform, educate and update patients on safety precautions. Provide verbal and written information on patients’ rights, responsibilities and advance directives. Assist customers in person with selection of products and their availability. Generate delivery and pickup ticket, ensure all signatures obtained. Assist patients with loading and unloading of equipment. Exchanges oxygen cylinders for patient in store and deliver if needed. Participate in inventory control with the use of POS. Checkout patients through register and ensure they receive proper change and receipt. Ability to prioritize tasks and projects while assisting customers and patients throughout the work day. Handle multiple phone lines, troubleshooting equipment issues and answering all inquiries. Acts as an over the phone liaison to physicians and the office staff, as well as hospital department staff. Direct calls to appropriate staff or communicates messages in a timely manner. Prepare appropriate documentation for billing e.g. history of CMN's and HCPCS code status for patient. ABN's/waivers when necessary. Assist patient Accounts with Claim Development Audits. Maintain knowledge of 3rd party reimbursement issues. Complete PAR when needed. Close out each day's activities through the store front. Reconcile all daily cash receipts and credit card sales with the Daily Credit Report. Turn in daily deposit slips and Cash Reconciliation Report to leadership. Knowledgeable of products and services. Develop and maintain a strong working knowledge of products and services offered. Qualifications: High School Diploma or Equivalent GED. Three years experience in a hospital business office or equivalent such as a physician's or insurance office. Two years Home Medical Equipment Billing experience preferred. Computer, communication, office equipment, and transcription skills required. Medical accounts billing experience desirable.
