Do you thrive in the pursuit of delivering the very best in environmental consulting services for your clients? Headway Environmental is expanding their Ecological Restoration Engineering team and looking for a dynamic individual who wishes to make a difference.
We are seeking a skilled Engineer who has experience in stream restoration design and surface water hydrologic and open-channel hydraulic analysis and modeling. The candidate must have a strong skill set in AutoCAD Civil 3D, HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, and/or SWMM software and a working knowledge of GIS principles.
You will receive senior guidance and mentoring from nationally-recognized stream and ecological restoration engineers. Work location will be remote, but location near Little Rock, AR, Annapolis, MD, Houston, TX, or Ft. Collins, CO preferred.
What you will accomplish:
Engineering design of ecosystem restoration and enhancement projects including: natural channel design/stream restoration, freshwater and coastal wetland restoration, green infrastructure, NBS-stormwater management systems, and ecologically-enhanced drainage and flood control channel stabilization
Perform engineering design and development of construction plans of the above listed project types under the direction of the project manager and lead designer/engineer
Mentor CADD technicians in natural channel design within the AutoDesk Civil 3D platform
Perform water resources assessments and analysis including: watershed hydrology, open-channel hydraulics, river and floodplain modelling, and stormwater management
Proficient software use of: AutoCad Civil 3D 2012, HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, and/or SWMM, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Excel
Keep projects on schedule and on budget and report to lead engineer
Experience and qualifications for success:
A minimum of an Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or related degree required, Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering or related degree preferred
A minimum of 3 years of experience in the engineering design and CADD development of construction plans for stream restoration projects
College coursework in surface water hydrology and open-channel hydraulics
College or post-academic training (such as Rosgen training or equivalent) in fluvial geomorphology, stream restoration, natural channel design, and sediment transport analysis preferred
Experience with AutoCad Civil 3D 2012, HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Excel, and various other civil engineering software programs required
Experience developing stream restoration/natural channel design construction plans in the AutoCad Civil 3D environment required
Willingness to be trained in GIS, if not already proficient
Ability to work independently and with Project Managers and multi-task regularly in a fast-paced environment with multiple changes; work under pressure & meet tight deadlines
