To assist manager with maintaining the build in Athena related to all aspects of Payer Configuration. Will assist the entire organization with payer configuration and collection performance. The analyst will proactively review allowables, collection reports, and identify Athena setup issues that impacts modeling. This position will serve as an Athena subject matter expert focused on the setup and maintenance of Athena.
Primary Responsibilities
Complete annual updates and quarterly reviews of anesthesia fees.
Review and maintain all items related to payer configuration. This includes but is not limited to new contracts, updates, amendments, renewals, modifications, and payer fee schedule updates.
Review Key Performance Indicators, invoices, and analyze data to identify problem areas and resolution needed.
Stay updated on payer policies.
Work the payer contract module ETM view and communicate with the RCM team on any issue identified.
Troubleshoot problems with Athena and work with software support on resolution.
Assist with special projects and implementations of new TINs or billing areas.
Work within a team environment to provide support and coverage for operations.
Assist with testing on system enhancements or issues identified when needed.
Qualifications Required Qualifications
Minimum of 3 years working with payers, health care analytics, system support, or Specialist experience in healthcare field.
Interpersonal skills, willing to communicate effectively with the team.
Desired/Preferred Qualifications
3 plus years of experience with medical billing knowledge.
Knowledge of payer contracting.
Knowledge of charge corrections.
Knowledge of understanding guidelines for Medicare/Medicaid, government plans, HMOs, and PPOs
Strong computer skills (including MS Word and Excel).
Has a strong working knowledge of billing procedures, insurance reimbursement and guidelines, preferably in a medical or anesthesia setting.
Must be able to communicate effectively and professionally to insurance companies along with co-workers and management.
Ability to perform at a high level of productivity and quality.
Work in collaboration with the Manager to improve processes.
Ability to ensure confidentiality of sensitive information and maintain HIPAA compliance.
Knowledge of anesthesia billing.
