Salary $180,000 - $300,000 per year

Job Details

Responsibilities

Review and provide thorough and timely analysis of new business intake materials and information in order to identify ethical and business conflicts of interest and ensure completeness, accuracy and adherence to firm conflicts and risk management procedures.

Use available internal and external databases, and communicate with firm lawyers with respect to clients and new business and follow up on all potential conflicts of interest.

Drafting and reviewing conflict waivers and other documentation for firm lawyers.

Proactively communicate with the Chief Risk Officer on complex conflicts questions and other compliance issues.

Review and provide thorough and timely analysis of all outside counsel guidelines and communicate with firm attorneys and the Chief Risk Officer to resolve potential issues.

Respond to attorney questions regarding potential conflicts of interest, conflict waivers and new business intake policies and procedures.

Maintain thorough, accurate and current records of all conflicts resolutions in database to ensure integrity of the database and to assist in the identification and clearing of future conflicts of interest.

Investigate and resolve erroneous, outdated or otherwise incomplete data on conflicts reports and ensure corrections are made in the database and in other records to ensure integrity of information.

Develop and maintain knowledge of legal ethics and professional responsibility rules related to lateral attorney and new matter conflicts of interest as well as relevant procedures, policies and practices.

Requirements

Highly developed and professional interpersonal skills and capability to work effectively with people at all levels of the organization in various functions and locations.

Excellent written and spoken communication skills.

Exceptional tact, diligence and analytical rigor.

Comfortable and conversant with technology.

Strong organizational skills and the ability to effectively prioritize work assignments.

Able to effectively collaborate or work autonomously as appropriate.

Ability to manage time well and prioritize effectively.

Proactively communicate with department leadership on complex conflicts questions and other compliance issues.

Knowledge of Intapp conflict checking and business intake software a plus.

Education & Experience

J.D. required.

Licensed to practice and in good standing in one of the following states California, Oregon, Washington, Arizona, Colorado, Utah, Georgia, Tennessee or Illinois.

2+ year’s experience practicing law and/or working on an ethics conflicts team in a law firm setting.
