Job Summary
The Regional Manager, Infection Prevention (IP) will direct and coordinate the work of the Infection Preventionists in collaboration with the IP System Director, Medical Director, and other physicians. The Manager will also coordinate and direct the work of IP and clinical staff, and other roles to achieve programmatic and institutional objectives. This position will ensure personnel activities meet departmental and hospital objectives related to infection prevention. In collaboration with the IP Director and Medical Director, develop and obtain approval for budget for Infection Control and Prevention Program.

Minimum Qualifications
Education: Master’s Degree in Nursing, Public Health
or related field
Licenses/Certifications: Certified in Infection Control (CIC) required; Green Belt, FAPIC, CHPHQ, or related Quality/Infection Control certification strongly preferred.
Experience / Knowledge / Skills:
- Five (5) years clinical/healthcare infection prevention experience required.
- Three (3) years of demonstrated leadership experience (progressively responsible staff experience within hospital quality/ performance improvement/project management/infection prevention) required.
- Two (2) years of experience in a supervisory or management role preferred. Working knowledge of statistics, microbiology, patient care practices, epidemiology, and occupational health
- Leadership capabilities, including team facilitation skills.
- Knowledge of Infection Prevention related regulatory, licensing, and professional clinical guidelines from accreditation agencies including but not limited to CMS, Texas State Department of Health, and The Joint Commission. Proven skills with communication (written, verbal, and presentation)
- Proficient with Microsoft Office, databases, NHSN, and electronic medical record review
Principal Accountabilities
- Manages all components of the Infection Control Program within a region.
- Identifies infection prevention improvement opportunities based on evidence based clinical practices and statistical analysis of current practice patterns.
- Manages healthcare associated infection data collection, aggregation, and dissemination across within a region.
- Monitors infection prevention outcomes and process measures in conjunction with regional leadership and hospital quality directors within a region.
- Manages and promotes a culture of patient safety and implementation of high reliability practices related to infection prevention within a region.
- Collaborates in the design, development and implementation of infection prevention alerts, prompts and tools within a region.
- Manages local infection prevention staff within a region in their daily operations, and implements systems for optimal knowledge transfer and efficiency across the enterprise.
- Refines and improves regional wide processes related to infection prevention to meet the anticipated needs and requirements of health care reform and One Memorial Hermann.
- Leads, plans, and manages short term and long term infection prevention robust process improvement projects to continuously reduce healthcare associated infections within a region.
- Manages and promotes communication and collaboration between all stakeholders in infection prevention strategies.
- Manages the use of data to drive decisions, to plan, to develop, and implement infection prevention strategies.
- Facilitates in conjunction with leadership and hospital infection prevention staff within a region, the education of physicians, managers, staff, patients and families pertaining to infection prevention principles.
- Manages accreditation and regulatory continuous compliance within a region with Center for Medicare and Medicaid, The Joint Commission and Texas Department of Health.
- Manages exposure follow up with patients and coordinates with occupational health.
- Manages the day to day regional infection prevention operational budget. Assures that revenue, expenses, and contribution margin meet or exceed budget.
- Ensures safe care to patients, staff and visitors; adheres to all Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards within budgetary specifications including time management, supply management, productivity and quality of service.
- Promotes individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education and skills competency; supports department-based goals which contribute to the success of the organization; serves as preceptor, mentor and resource to less experienced staff.
